Option 1. Hong Kong to Zhangjiajie Direct Trains - Most Recommended

There is a daily high-speed train from Hong Kong to Zhangjiajie. Departing from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station (香港西九龙站) in the morning, it arrives at Zhangjiajiexi/Zhangjiajie West Station (张家界西站) in the afternoon, with a travel time of approximately 6.5 hours. A second-class ticket costs around ¥770. If you're looking for a direct route, the high-speed train is the most convenient, comfortable, and reliable option, making it the best choice for traveling from Hong Kong to Zhangjiajie.

From Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station to Downtown and Major Attractions

To Wulingyuan District (National Forest Park & Grand Canyon): Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station is approximately 50km from Wulingyuan scenic area. Coming out of the station, you'll find the intercity bus terminal on your right. From there, you can take a coach to Wulingyuan (武陵源)/National Forest Park and the Grand Canyon (大峡谷). Note that coaches to Wulingyuan stop operating early evening. For late-night arrivals needing accommodation near the National Forest Park, taxis are available from the B1 parking lot at Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station.

To Zhangjiajie Downtown (Tianmen Mountain): Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station is approximately 10km from downtown. After exiting the station, simply turn left and walk to the bus stop. You can take bus 4 or 17 to Wuling Delicious Restaurant Stop (武陵山珍馆), which is conveniently located near the Tianmen Mountain Cableway Station.

To Furong & Fenghuang Ancient Towns: Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station operates multiple high-speed trains daily to Furong Ancient Town and Fenghuang Ancient Town, offering fast and comfortable travel options for travelers to choose from. The journey to Furongzhen Station takes about 25 minutes, while to Fenghuanggucheng Station it takes approximately 1 hour.

Option 2. Hong Kong to Zhangjiajie Direct Flights - Good Alternative

There is a direct flight from Hong Kong to Zhangjiajie operated by Qingdao Airlines, scheduled on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday afternoons. The flight takes about 2 hours. Since direct flights aren’t available daily and schedules can change frequently, this option makes a good alternative to taking the high-speed train.

Indonesian Trip to HK SZ ZJJ

I plan to buy separate ticket from HK to ZJJ, will ride 08:30 Hong Kong West Kowloon 08:49 Shenzhen North G6080 19m first, then hop to 08:55 Shenzhen North 14:52 Zhangjiajie West G6080 5h 57m, is it possible since I am Indonesian with China Tourist Visa, how will be the exit and entry process in HK and SZ/ZJJ?

Hi Asen,

08:49~08:55 is not long enough to change to another train. The ticket check-in usually stops around 5 minutes before departure. To change to another train in the same station, you don't need to exit train station. After taking off your train, find the transit pass to reach waiting hall of your next train.
