Get to Zhangjiajie by Air
Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport (张家界荷花国际机场) is the only airport in Zhangjiajie city. Currently, it operates 42 airlines from/to 42 cities both domestic and international. It means travelers can take flights from Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, Changsha, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Kunming, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Tianjin, Qingdao, etc. Most flights land in Zhangjiajie in the evening. Location & Detailed Address: Jichang Road, Yongding District, Zhangjiajie (张家界市永定区机场路)
Transportation: The airport is located at the southwest of Zhangjiajie downtown, about 5 kilometers to downtown area (about 10 minutes by driving). And it is about 30 kilometers to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, taking about 40-50 minutes by driving. It is about 9 kilometers to Tianmen Mountain which needs 15-20 minutes by driving.
Get to Zhangjiajie by Train
Taking trains is another good way to reach Zhangjiajie. Nowadays, there are high-speed trains connecting Zhangjiajie with Changsha (shortening the transfer time from 4-5 hours to 2-3.5 hours), Guilin (7.5 hours), Beijing (10.5 hours), Shanghai (9.5 hours)... Travelers can also take normal trains to Zhangjiajie from Kunming (16.5 hours), Wuhan (10 hours), and so on. The trains will arrive at Zhangjiajie West Railway Station (张家界西站) or Zhangjiajie Railway Station (张家界火车站), both stations are located in the downtown area.

Taking long distance buses is another alternative to Zhangjiajie. There is only one coach station in Zhangjiajie called Zhangjiajie Central Bus Station (张家界中心汽车站). Long distance buses are available from/to Changsha, Fenghuang Ancient Town, Furong Ancient Town, and more destinations in Hunan and China.

Changsha is served as the transfer city to Zhangjiajie. It is located in the southeast of Zhangjiajie in Hunan province. The distance between each other is 321 kilometers away. Travelers can get to Zhangjiajie from Changsha train and long distance bus.

Get to Zhangjiajie from Shanghai

There is only one high speed train running from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station (上海虹桥站) to Zhangjiajie West Railway Station (张家界西站), taking about 9 hours. A few normal trains are also available to operate from Shanghai South Railway Station (上海南站) to Zhangjiajie. The whole journey takes around 19 hours.

Get to Zhangjiajie from Beijing

Get to Zhangjiajie from Xian
Traveling from Xian to Zhangjiajie is a common choice. Xian is located at northwest of Zhangjiajie in Shaanxi Province. It is about 970 kilometers away. Travelers can go from Xian to Zhangjiajie by air or transfer via Changsha. Flight is first choice from Xian to Zhangjiajie.

Get to Zhangjiajie from Guilin

Get to Zhangjiajie from Chengdu
Chengdu is the “Hometown of Giant Pandas” located in Sichuan Province in western China. It is in the northwest of Zhangjiajie, about 877 kilometers in between. Direct flights are available daily from Chengdu to Zhangjiajie. It takes off from Chengdu Tianfu International Airport to Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport. It needs 1-1.5 hours in total. You’d better check the flights condition before arrange Chengdu Zhangjiajie tour. Or you can transit to Changsha first and then to Zhangjiajie.

There is also one bullet train per day available, which takes about 7.5 hours in total.
