Option 1. Guangzhou to Zhangjiajie Direct Trains
When planning a trip from Guangzhou to Zhangjiajie, you'll be pleased to know that there are many direct trains available. Whether you prioritize the speed and comfort of high-speed trains or the budget-friendly nature of regular trains, there are options to meet your needs and preferences.
High-Speed Trains - Most Recommended & Convenient
From Guangzhou to Zhangjiajie, there are many daily direct high-speed trains available. Departure stations include Guangzhounan Station (广州南站), Guangzhou Station (广州站), Guangzhoubei Station (广州北站), Guangzhoubaiyun Station (广州白云站), and Xintang Station (新塘站). You can choose the departure station closest to your accommodation when purchasing tickets. The earliest high-speed train departs around 07:30, and the latest around 16:00, all arriving on the same day. The fare of second class seat is about ¥500 to ¥600. Travel times range from approximately 5 to 7 hours.
Regular Trains - Overnight & Low Budget
Guangzhou offers a few daily direct regular trains to Zhangjiajie, departing from Guangzhoubei Station (广州北站), Guangzhou Station (广州站), and Guangzhoubaiyun Station (广州白云站). These overnight trains arrive the next day, with travel times ranging from approximately 12.5 to 14 hours. Due to the limited overnight comfort on regular trains, this option is not recommended unless you are on a tight budget.

From Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station to Downtown and Major Attractions
▶ To Wulingyuan District (National Forest Park & Grand Canyon): Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station is approximately 50km from Wulingyuan scenic area. Coming out of the station, you'll find the intercity bus terminal on your right. From there, you can take a coach to Wulingyuan (武陵源)/National Forest Park and the Grand Canyon (大峡谷). Note that coaches to Wulingyuan stop operating early evening. For late-night arrivals needing accommodation near the National Forest Park, taxis are available from the B1 parking lot at Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station.
▶ To Zhangjiajie Downtown (Tianmen Mountain): Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station is approximately 10km from downtown. After exiting the station, simply turn left and walk to the bus stop. You can take bus 4 or 17 to Wuling Delicious Restaurant Stop (武陵山珍馆), which is conveniently located near the Tianmen Mountain Cableway Station.

Option 2. Guangzhou to Zhangjiajie Direct Flights
Direct flights are available from Guangzhou to Zhangjiajie. Normally, there is one flight per day. 9 Air operates flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, while flights by China Southern Airlines are available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The flight duration between the two cities is approximately 1 hour 50 minutes.
Please note that 9 Air, a budget carrier, has certain limitations regarding baggage allowance, meals, seat comfort, and service. Since the fare difference between 9 Air and China Southern Airlines is, generally, within ¥100, it is advisable to consider China Southern Airlines, one of the three major state-owned carriers, for a more comfortable travel experience.
