Daocheng Autumn (Mid-September - Mid-November)

Autumn from September to November is the most popular traveling season to Daocheng. Temperature drops quickly with many clear days, and it usually begins to snow from late October. The average temperature is around 10.3°C in September, 6.3°C in October and around 0.6°C in November. All trees are changing their green covers into various beautiful colors to change Daocheng a naturally drawn oil painting. However, you are advised to avoid the National Holiday from Oct. 1st to Oct 7th to avoid the most crowds.

Daocheng Spring (Late March - Late June)

Spring from late March to late June is another popular traveling season to Daocheng, when there are mainly winter sceneries. Temperature rising gradually, but it is still a little cold and you need to wear sweaters and down jackets to keep warm, especially during night. The average temperature is around 1°C during March, 4.7°C during April, 9°C during Amy and up to 11.9°C in June. From April, lots of peach flowers, pear flowers, apricot blossoms and more gradually flourish along the rising altitude. And till late June, various colored azalea flowers blooming with the fresh green pasture vitalize the mountains in Yading fully, making Daocheng Yading a nice place for mind refreshing.

Daocheng Summer (July - Early September)

Daocheng enjoys an average temperature from 10°C -12°C during July to September for a cool summer escape. However, there are relatively more rain, particularly in July, so rain gear is highly suggested and weather forecast is advised in case of any adjustment. During the early summer month, there are still a wide spread of eye-pleasant emerald grass for fresh enjoyment, and gradually, there begin to show some yellow prairie and flowers at the foot of the snow mountain.

Daocheng Winter (Late November - Early March)

Daocheng enjoys its winter from late November to early March of the next year, when temperature is very low with more snowfall, often during night. The coldest month is usually January with the average temperature around -4.7°C, while, it is around -3.2°C in December, -2.8°C in February averagely. Besides, since there are a large different of temperature from day to night, and it is usually drop below -10°C at night, you are highly suggested to prepare thick clothes if visiting during winter time. But due to the often heavy snow during January and February, the road to Daocheng Yading is usually closed, so you are highly advised to avoid those two months.

Winter Things to See & Do

If road and temperature permit, you can visit Daocheng Yading to see all its mountains, grassland, dense forests, valley, lakes, etc. covered with pure white snow in winter for a peaceful silver world appreciation.
