We went to China with China Discovery (Chengdu) and used their services in Beijing, Xian and Chengdu.
I really really recommend them, as a westerner China can be an intimidating place to visit, we are from the UK and VISAs are tricky to get as you have to visit the China VISA centre in London twice.
But Phoebe was immensely helpful in booking our trip and providing the documentation which we needed to provide to the chinese govt for the complicated VISA process. Phoebe was always courteous and quick to respond. She also provided a customised Itinerary which was perfect for us, lots of history and Pandas!
Five star service and more affordable by far than all western providers. Moreover, at the end of our trip Phoebe sent us a gift bag with wonderful chinese gifts in! I have never known a travel company do this before and the cute souvenirs now have pride of place in my home.
China is just amazing, I have travelled a lot of the world (Brazil, Africa, Middle East, America, SA Asia, Europe) and China is the safest I have ever felt in any country including my own. People are respectful, the sites are amazing, infrastructure fantastic and it is also the cleanest place I have ever been!
We were picked up from the airport by our guide & driver and from then on everything logistically and all tickets and entry to sites were handled by the guides.
We took bullet trains between the respective cities and our guides purchased our tickets and helped us to the correct platform and departure lounge (chinese train stations are like european airports - very large).
Our guides all spoke great English, were always punctual, friendly and informative, helping us order food in restaurants and guiding us the whole way.
Drivers drove safely and picked us up quickly at all destinations. Hotels were great and up to American 4 star standards I would say.
Honestly, I was so impressed by this company and their staff and I really recommend using them. China is a wonderful interesting country and I hope to go back again one day. I will be using China Discovery as well!
