We are a group of 8 from Germany and Hong Kong, with 6 practitioners of Western and Chinese Medicine. We were interested in searching for Bian Que (5. century BC), the "Founder of Chinese medicine" and Sun Simiao (Tang dynasty), the "Chinese Hippocrates". Our journey started from Xian and took us to the area of the Yellow River denoting the origin of Chinese civilization. Our itinerary was complicated and unusual, with places which are not frequented by foreign tourists, e.g. the ancient cities of Xingtai and Yuncheng, and the Wangwu Mountain. We contacted a few travel agencies during the initial planning. China Discovery was the only one which responded quickly, co-operated very efficiently and organized the whole tour to our greatest satisfaction. Many thanks to our travel consultant Leo, who was always fast in answering my questions, ready to make suggestions and offer solutions. It was really a pleasure to work with him. With our experiences this time I can recommend China Discovery (operated through Bamboo International Travels in Chengdu) very highly to travelers interested in visiting China.

Bruce from Xian was our guide throughout the trip. He speaks excellent English, was very knowledgeable, helpful and attentive to our needs. He worked together well with the driver, navigated him on very difficult roads sometimes. We added extra spots of interest to the itinerary (e.g. Erlitou, archeological site of the capital of Xia dynasty, the very first dynasty of China) at short notice and both our guide and driver were very cooperative regarding our requests. We did cover some adventurous stretches (e.g. in search of the tomb of Sun Simiao in the Wangwu Mountain) not foreseen in the itinerary. Thanks are due to them that our wishes were fulfilled. Our tour bus traveled over 4 provinces. Leo made sure beforehand that everything went smoothly and it did.

All the hotels were of high standard. The one right next to the Hukou Waterfall, in the heart of ancient city Pingyao, in the middle of beautiful Wangwu Mountain are especially recommendable. We ate very well, the budget for meals was more than enough. The whole group had a wonderful time. We enjoyed the beautiful landscape and learned a lot about the long history of Chinese civilization and Chinese medicine. Great thanks are due to Leo Li of China Discovery and his team. We shall certainly look for their services next time we go to China again.
