Top 1: Dongsheng District - Old City Center with Hotels of All Levels
Although Dongsheng District (东胜区) is a little bit far from the scenic spots, it is the old downtown of Ordos with mature construction of urban infrastructure and facilities. Therefore, more than half of the tourists would choose to spend nights here. Dongsheng has a large number of hotels, rich in variety (from five-star high-end to 3-star budget) and cost-effective. There are two railway stations (Dongsheng West Railway Station, Dongsheng East Railway Station) and an important bus station in Dongsheng District. So public transport in Dongsheng District is more convenient than in Kangbashi District. Independent travelers can take tourist buses at Dongsheng Bus Station and reach the Genghis Khan Mausoleum Scenic Area directly.

Besides living in downtown Ordos, you can also choose accommodation in and around famous scenic areas like, the Genghis Khan Mausoleum Tourist Area, Kubuqi Desert and Ordos Grassland, etc. The Mausoleum of Genghis Khan is near Kangbashi District, only about 28 km in distance, which takes less than 30 minutes to transfer by car. So tourists are more recommended to stay in the city. However, Kubuqi Desert and Ordos Grassland are far from downtown areas in Ordos, and they cover a wide range of areas. There will be some hotels with grassland and desert characteristics in and around the scenic spots.
