Zhengzhou is a major railway hub in China and the city has several railway stations in operation. Among all stations, Zhengzhou Railway Station (郑州站) and Zhengzhou East Railway Station (郑州东站) are the two mainly used stations.

Zhengzhou Railway Station is an old train station located in downtown area, serving trains on Longhai Railway (Lanzhou Lianyungang Railway), Beijing Guangzhou Railway, and Beijing Guangzhou High Speed Railway, Zhengzhou Kaifeng Intercity Railway, Zhengzhou Jiaozuo Intercity Railway and Zhengzhou Xinzheng Airport Intercity Railway (between Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport and Zhengzhou East Railway Station). If you take normal train from Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, Chengdu, or some certain high speed trains from Luoyang, Jiaozuo, Kaifeng, you may get to Zhengzhou Railway Station eventually.

After arrival, you can walk from the East Square to Zhengzhou Long-distance Bus Center Station (郑州长途汽车中心站) across the street, and take a direct bus to Shaolin Temple there. Every day, there are many buses available, and the earliest bus departing at 08:00 am and the last bus back to Zhengzhou leaving at 18:00. The air-conditioned bus takes around 1.5 hours. It’s the most convenient way for independent travelers.

Zhengzhou East Railway Station to Shaolin Temple

Train Station Address: No.199, Xinyi Road, Jinshui District, Zhengzhou City, Henan Province 河南省郑州市金水区心怡路199号 (about 120 km from Shaolin Temple)

Zhengzhou East Railway Station is newly-built high speed train station in east suburb of Zhengzhou, which serves some high speed railways passing Zhengzhou. Taking high speed train from Beijing, Shanghai, Luoyang and other connected cities, you will finally arrive at Zhengzhou East Railway Station.

Currently, there is no bus running to Shaolin Temple directly from the station, so you can transfer to Zhengzhou Long-distance Bus Center Station (about 40 minutes by taxi), to take a bus to Shaolin Temple. Or, you can take high speed train from the station to Gongyi South Railway Station (巩义南站) for about 30 minutes and take 1 hour's taxi to reach Shaolin Temple.
