Day 1 Zhangjiajie Arrival
Pick-up in Zhangjiajie & Hotel Check-in
Welcome to Zhangjiajie! Upon your arrival, our local tour guide will meet you with a sign on which says your name at the arrival hall in the airport or train station. Then our guide and driver will transfer you directly to your hotel in Wulingyuan downtown in Zhangjiajie by our comfortable private car (non-smoking), and the guide will help you check in. The rest of today is on your own to explore this fabulous city in China.
Arrival Ideas: Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport 6 kilometers from city downtown serves flights between major domestic cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, Changsha, Chengdu, Chongqing, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Qingdao, etc. and some international cities like Bangkok, Osaka, etc. Besides, you can also take a normal train to Zhangjiajie Railway Station from many destinations, like Changsha (4.5-5.5 hours), Yichang (4.5-5 hours), Tongren (about 7 hours), Wuhan (10 hours), Xian (15 hours), Shanghai (20 hours), Beijing (23 hours), and so on.

Day 2 Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (B)
Huangshi Village - Golden Whip Stream
Today, after breakfast, you will be met by our guide and driver and then driven to start your exciting visit to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. You will first take the cable car up to Huangshi Village to appreciate the wide forest park on its peaks. The village site has an altitude of 1080 meters, which is praised for its similar charm of pillar forest of Colorado in the USA. Enjoying the flat the wide visual environment, it is so far the largest natural viewing deck for visitors for a perfect admiration of its various rising stones and hills. Enjoy your fresh walk to visit the top famous sights including Star Picking Stand, Five Finger Peak, and so on, and find those looking like bridge piers, etc. from a distance. Take cable car to get down.
Later, change your angle to explore the famous Golden Whip Stream deep in the valley. This totally 7.5 kilometers long brook is one of the most beautiful places in the whole forest park area. Take an inspiring roam along the whispering pristine water on the paved path to immerse into tranquil wonderland with fresh air, colorful blooming flowers in different seasons, lush vegetation, etc. and be prepared to encounter with some wild monkeys.
After the visiting, be driven back to your hotel in Wulingyuan. Have a good sleep!
Day 3 Wulingyuan-Zhangjiajie Core Scenic Area (B)
Wulingyuan Sign Gate (East Gate) - Ten-mile Gallery - Yuanjiajie - Tianzi Mountain
Kick off your day with an early breakfast, then head to the Wulingyuan-Zhangjiajie Core Scenic Area, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Begin your adventure with a visit to the Ten-mile Gallery. Here, sightseeing trams pass by lifelike formations such as The God of Longevity Welcoming Guests, Old Herb Picker, and Three Sisters Peaks, offering a leisurely journey through a valley of story-telling landscapes.
(Note: 1. The ticket for sightseeing trams in the Ten-mile Gallery scenic area is not included in the Wulingyuan-Zhangjiajie scenic area ticket. One-way tickets cost CNY 38/pp, and round-trip tickets are CNY 76/pp (only for reference). 2. The one-way route length is no more than two kilometers; riding a tram in and walking out is more recommended.)Your next stop is Yuanjiajie. Ride on the Bailong Elevator, the world's fastest and tallest outdoor elevator, which swiftly ascends from the valley floor to the peak in just 1.5 minutes, offering a bird 's-eye view of the breathtaking landscape. Upon arrival at Yuanjiajie, immerse yourself in the area 's natural splendor, which is famous for its towering sandstone columns. Hike through the ethereal landscape, often enveloped in mist, and explore the inspiration for the floating Hallelujah Mountains from the movie Avatar. At the Ecstasy Terrace, take in the awe-inspiring vistas of hundreds of unique stone peaks. Then, discover the natural wonder of The First Bridge, a natural stone bridge linking two peaks with a 5-meter long platform, a rare geological phenomenon.
After a fulfilling morning at Ten-mile Gallery and Yuanjiajie, take a sightseeing bus to Tianzi Mountain. At Helong Park , you 'll find one of the best viewing decks in the area, offering close-up views of the majestic and peculiar Yubi Peak. Capture the essence of Tianzi Mountain 's four wonders: the sea of clouds, the radiance of moonlight, the rays of sunshine, and the winter snow. Conclude your day at Tianzi Mountain with a thrilling ride on the Tianzi Mountain Cable Car, descending through a landscape of sandstone pillars that seem to rush by your window.
After the exciting tour, your guide and driver will escort you to Zhangjiajie 's downtown area to check in at your hotel.
Today 's Optional Choice | Kong Zhong Tian Yuan, also known as The Field in the Sky (Time of Visit: around 2 hours):
En route to Helong Park, Tianzi Mountain, you 'll pass by the Kong Zhong Tian Yuan Scenic Area, known for its remarkable agricultural terraces that appear to float in the sky. An unmissable photography spot. Besides, the special scene of the terraced field on sandstones, two stunning observation decks, Gathering of Divine Troop and Descending of Divine Troop, are another highlight of the scenic area, where you can have a panoramic view of the Bailong Elevator and 48 sandstone peaks rising from the ground, resembling a group of generals standing in line.
(Note: 1. The cost of transportation within the Kong Zhong Tian Yuan area is additional and not covered by the general admission to the forest park. The fare for a round trip is CNY 64/pp.)
Day 4 Yellow Dragon Cave + Glass Bridge & Zhangjiajie Departure (B, L)

After breakfast, your guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel. On this day, you’ll visit Yellow Dragon Cave in Suoxiyu Nature Reserve and also Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge in Cili County.
Yellow Dragon Cave, acclaimed by UNESCO experts as one of the world's most beautiful, offers a unique blend of natural beauty and geological wonders. One of the highlights of the Yellow Dragon Cave is the boat tour through its water cave section. As you glide gently through the subterranean waterways, you'll be surrounded by the soothing sounds of trickling water and the sight of glistening stalactites reflecting off the water's surface. After getting off the boat, a climb of hundreds of steps and a walk of some distance will lead you to the cave's famous Dragon Palace, where the stalactites create a scene straight out of a fairy tale. The entire exploration of the boat experience and karst caves takes about 1.5~2 hours.
(A heads-up: Exploring the Yellow Dragon Cave involves a considerable number of steps with both ascents and descents, making it challenging for people with mobility issues or for seniors who may not have the required stamina. If you decide to skip the Yellow Dragon Cave tour or prefer to relax at Baofeng Lake, renowned for its stunning water views, a boat ride around the Avatar mountains, and the chance to see the impressive giant salamanders, please inform your travel agent in advance so they can arrange it accordingly.)
After that, be driven to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, where you'll experience a mix of adrenaline and serenity. Step onto the Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge, a marvel of engineering and the world's longest and highest glass-bottomed bridge. Spanning 430 meters and suspended 400 meters above the valley floor, it offers a breathtaking view that makes you feel like you're walking on air. After conquering your fears, walk a distance to the Lookout Deck, take a moment to appreciate the panoramic view of the area.
Next, descend into the valley on foot or via transportation facilities (kindly share your preferences with your tour guide, as services like elevators, slide ways, and zip lines may come with extra fees). At the lush valley, explore Rainbow Square, Momo Cave, and Shenquan Lake, where you can enjoy the cool shade of the forest, a tranquil boating experience on the emerald lakes, and the vibrant colors of the local flora. The valley tour features some gentle paths, with the entire walk taking approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
After the exciting scenic visit, our guide and driver will escort you to Zhangjiajie airport or train station to catch your flight/train to your next destination or home. Service ends!

My wife and I returned from our China trip yesterday. The crowds at most sites were overwhelming and something that we are not used to. However, I want to let you know that we had a wonderful time mostly due to China Discovery's wonderful tour guides!
Each guide enriched our experience with both their knowledge of the cities, sites, cultures, people, and foods. They were all prompt, patient, and engaging. Tim helped us navigate the Chinese health system, stayed with us throughout the hospital visit, and brought us back to the hotel late at night! We are very grateful to Tim's extraordinary assistance!

Yes, you responded swiftly and clear. Both drivers pick up and drop off were good. Our guide, Gavin was a very good guide, and driver, he's attentive, knows history well, kind and well organized. We're very happy with him. Hotels Holiday Inn Express were OK, they served good breakfast. Location might be a bit stranded but perhaps chosen because most our trips are outskirts and not inner city.

The big draw of Zhangjiajie and the main place to appreciate the spectacular quartz sandstone peaks and AVATAR mountains is Wulingyuan Scenic Area. This scenic area include four parts: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (Huangshi Village and Golden Whip Stream), Yuanjiajie, Tianzi Mountain and Yangjiajie. Travelers usually spend about two days exploring this vast area - one day to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, and the other day to Yuanjiajie & Tianzi Mountain.
To travel further with amazing and thrilling experience, many travelers would like to spend one more day to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon with Glass Bridge; and if you want to travel in a relaxing way, you can only go and challenge Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge over the Grand Canyon, and take an enjoyable visit to Baofeng Lake with boat experience passing through the incredible peaks or explore Yellow Dragon Cave underground.

It is suitable to visit Zhangjiajie at any time in a year. The best traveling seasons are Spring and Autumn with best comfortable weather. In Spring during March to May, all flowers there are blooming among the most verdant green mountain range, and the fresh air with singing of birds help to create your great traveling mood. In Autumn from October to November, foliage at Zhangjiajie turn into yellow and orange to dye the scenic are very beautiful, which is great for nice photography. In Summer, Zhangjiajie National Forest Park has lower temperature to be a good summer resort to go, and it is good to walk along the streams and dense forest, however, since there a frequent rains usually during summer, you are suggested to prepare raincoats. Furthermore in winter, it is a good time to avoid crowds, besides, many places including the national forest park are covered by snow to change the attraction into a pure beautiful lady, which is awesome for a photography tour.
Convenient flights and trains are available in Zhangjiajie City. Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport, with 10 minutes’ driving distance to the downtown, has good air connection with 42 domestic cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, Changsha, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Kunming, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Tianjin, Qingdao, etc. and international cities including Bangkok, Osaka, etc. Besides, Zhangjiajie Railway Station is also frequently used for reaching the city, which is rightly at the city downtown. It serves trains from Changsha (4.5-5.5 hours), Yichang (4.5-5 hours), Tongren (about 7 hours), Wuhan (10 hours), Xian (15 hours), Shanghai (20 hours), Beijing (23 hours), etc.
Zhangjiajie offers various luxury hotels and budget hostels and boutique accommodation for your stay during the trip.
● Stay in Wulingyuan Town: For your several days discovering Wulingyuan Scenic Area including Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, etc., we suggest you arrange the hotel at Wulingyuan Town, which needs only 10 minutes to Wujiayu Ticket Station and 20 minutes to Forest Park Ticket Station by car.
● Stay in Zhangjiajie Downtown Area: For your arrival day especially by a late flight/train or if you plan to visit Tianmen Mountain, it is suggested to stay in Zhangjiajie City downtown.
For spring and autumn, light sweaters, long shirts and long pants are suggested. Temperature in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is about 5-10°C lower than that in the city area, and the temperatures varies a lot from day to night. In summer, shirts and shorts are enough, besides, it is advised to prepare light coats for lower temperature in early morning and at night. In winter, it is a little cold in Zhangjiajie, and down jackets, sweaters, warm pants and socks, scarves, gloves, etc. are better to keep warm. Remember to wear comfortable shoes or sneakers, because you will have a lot of steps to walk around those natural scenic spots. Since it often rains in Zhangjiajie, you are highly suggested to bring your raincoats or umbrellas. Besides, bring sunblock, sunglasses and hat to protect your skin and eyes.
Reputed as the Most Beautiful Tiny Town in China, Fenghuang Ancient Town has more than 400 years’ history situated in the southwest of Zhangjiajie, about 200 km away. It is a good idea to spend one day transferring to this old town to have a taste of Xiangxi culture.
Besides, Mount Fanjing is about 330 kilometers away from Zhangjiajie. You can extend for one or two days to visit this fantastic nature reserve with bizarre rock formations and dominating summit of stones all-above-the-clouds.
