Kunming Changshui International Airport:

Location: Changshui Village, Guandu District, Kunming, Yunnan (云南省昆明市官渡区长水村-昆明长水国际机场)

It is the largest and most frequently used airport in Yunnan province, which is about 23km from the city downtown area. To arrive there, you could take the local Airport Shuttle Bus Line 1 or Line 2 from the city downtown, and the buses start about every 20 minutes. Besides, taking a taxi, you could spend about 50 minutes with a driving distance of about 27.5km there.

Diqing Shangri-La Airport:

Location: Jiantang Town, Shangri-La City, Diqing, Yunnan (云南省迪庆藏族自治州香格里拉市建塘镇-迪庆香格里拉机场)

Diqing Shangri-La Airport is about 5km away from downtown Shangri-La. There is no shuttle bus available between the airport and Shangri-La urban area at present, but you can choose the taxi, which will cost 18 yuan around. For Shangri-La Old Town is only about 4km away from the airport, taking a taxi will also be the best choice for you to get there.

Kunming Shangri-La Bus

For the long time traveling on the road, it is not recommended to take a bus to transfer between Kunming and Shangri-La. But, if you are in budget, you can check the following bus information which will help you a lot to travel between Kunming and Shangri-La.

Shangri-La Bus Terminal:

Location: Zhongshan Road, Diqin Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan (藏族自治州中乡路-香格里拉客运站)

Shangri-La bus terminal is about 6.9km away from Diqing Shangri-La Airport. It is the only bus terminal in Shangri-La, so don't worry about going to the wrong place. You can take bus to the most popular attraction Pudacuo National Park from here, the bus will go at 9:30 am every day, and 15 yuan per person is enough.

Kunming West Bus Terminal:

Location: No.18, Yining Road, Xishan District, Kunming city, Yunnan province. (云南省昆明市西山区益宁路18号-昆明西部客运站)

Kunming West Bus Terminal is situated a little far away from the city downtown, and near Kunming West Railway Station. You could take the local Metro Line 3 to get there for about 40 minutes, or take a taxi for about 30 minutes from the city center.

Shangri-La - Lijiang - Kunming Transportation

Due to the uncertainty and inconvenient of taking long-distance bus from Shangri-La to Kunming, many tourists choose to take bus to Lijiang, and then take train or flight back to Kunming. The bus from Shangri-La to Lijiang leaves every half an hour every day from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, and there are about 7 daily high-speed trains and 5 flights between Lijiang and Kunming. So, if you only focus on those three places in Yunnan, we would recommend traveling Shangri-La and Lijiang first, and then back to Kunming after you have visited the two places.
