Century Diamond Cruise Ship

“Now This Is the China I wanted to see”

The Ship was the Diamond. We were 4 nights and 5 days on the river. The scenery was wonderful going through the 3 Gorges. We stopped at Water Village and toured the antique village complete with characters is native costume, a play depicting the courting and marriage ritual, fishing and MONKIES! The scenery was fabulous. We stopped at another area for a small boat ride up a tributary of the Yangtze. It was beautiful. The ships cruise director narrated areas of the river that were fascinating. We also stopped a the Red Pagoda and village. The village had the most vendors and some interesting merchandise. Do some souvenir shopping here. Remember to haggle!!

Cabins were very good, with a small balcony. The bathroom was very small. The food was good and plentiful, with most meals being a buffet style. Soft drinks only included with meals. Tea and coffee only included with breakfast, although there was a kettle and tea/coffee in the cabins. The three gorges dam is incredible. We had a trip up into the hills to look down on the dam before we actually went though it. It gave us a real perspective and you realise how huge it is. We had a trip to the red pagoda. There are loads of stalls selling things. Loads of bargains, but you need to barter. The cruise was very relaxing, after a hectic schedule, with some beautiful scenery.

We are not familiar with cruising holidays but were very impressed with our 'luxury' cabin. We had been obliged to upgrade from the 'standard' as the smaller cabin was not available when we booked, but others in our party were very happy with the cheaper option. The room and all the public areas were of a high quality, very clean and well maintained. The staff were excellent and we were pleased with the choice, quality and quantity of food, though buffet style would not be our preferred option. I would thoroughly recommend this boat and this cruise. As part of a fairly rigorous China tour, it was a welcome respite from the challenging pace of the rest of the holiday.
