Xiamen Air / Xiamen Flight

• Location: Xiangyun Yi Road, Huli District, Xiamen City (厦门市湖里区翔云一路).

Xiamen now has one airport, namely Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport. The airport provides international flights to more than 45 international cities and more than 90 domestic cities in China. You can take international flights from Tokyo, Sydney, Singapore, London, Paris, etc. to Xiamen. Also, you can get to Xiamen from Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Lanzhou, Kunming, Lijiang, etc. by flight. For visitors coming to Xiamen from international countries and regions, those flights are usually the most popular way to get there. And if you are going to visit Xiamen from those cities on China’s north part, like Beijing and Harbin, taking a flight is also a good option.

Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport is located in Xiamen downtown, about 12~20 kilometers (half an hour or so by car) to those Xiamen ports to catch a ferry to Gulangyu Island. At the airport, you can ride a taxi to get around. In addition, there are also Airport Shuttle Buses for you to travel between the Terminal 3 and Terminal 4 of the airport and the ferry ports (like Lundu Port and Dongdu Port) and train stations (like Xiamen North Railway Station and Xiamen Railway Station), Xiamen University, etc.

Currently, Xiamen has 2 main train stations. They are Xiamen Railway Station and Xiamen North Railway Station. Xiamen Railway Station is closer to the main tourist areas in Xiamen, including Gulangyu Island, Nanputuo Temple, Xiamen Botanical Garden, etc. However, Xiamen North Railway Station normally shares more bullet trains. For example, all the trains running between Xiamen and Xiapu only departure from and arrive at Xiamen North Railway Station. And every day, there are 20 high speed trains from Xiamen Railway Station to Fuzhou. But the number will be as high as 60 at Xiamen North Railway Station.

By taking high speed trains, you can get to other tourist cities like Xiamen from Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Huangshan, Guilin, Chengdu, etc. Besides, you can travel from Xiamen to the nearby attractions in Fujian, like Xiapu Mudflat, Wuyishan, etc.

Xiamen Railway Station

• Location: No.900, Xiahe Road, Siming District, Xiamen, Fujian (福建省厦门市思明区厦禾路900号，厦门站)
• To the ports to Gulangyu Island: about 7km and 20 minutes by taxi/car
• To Nanputuo Temple: about 9km and half an hour by taxi/car
• To Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport: about 12km and 20 minutes by taxi/car

Xiamen North Railway Station

• Location: Yannei Village, Houxi Town, Jimei District, Xiamen, Fujian (福建省厦门市集美区后溪镇岩内村，厦门北站)
• To the ports to Gulangyu Island: about 27km and 40 minutes by taxi/car
• To Nanputuo Temple: about 32km and 1 hour or so by taxi/car
• To Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport: about 17km and half an hour by taxi/car

Xiamen Cruise

As a coastal city with a long coastline of 262.6 kilometers, Xiamen also boasts international cruise lines. However, the international cruise lines are limited. The most frequent ones are the Xiamen - Japan - Xiamen round cruises. Thanks to the unbeaten locations of Hong Kong and Xiamen that are both in China’s south coast, there are lots of visitors travelling from Hong Kong to Xiamen. Travelers can choose to travel by high speed train (direct train or via Shenzhen) and flight.

By Direct High Speed Train (from 4 hours)

By High Speed Train via Shenzhen (from 4.5 hours)

Considering the daily direct bullet train from Hong Kong to Xiamen is limited. Some visitors also prefer to get from Hong Kong to Shenzhen first, and then catch a bullet train from Shenzhen to Xiamen.

From Hong Kong to Shenzhen, you can ride a Hong Kong MTR train to the border first, including Luohu Port and Futian Port, and then make a change to Shenzhen metro or taxi to the railway stations in Shenzhen. By Flight (from 2 hours)

Xiamen is about 536 kilometers northeast of Macau. Similar to Hong Kong, travelers can get to Xiamen from Macau by direct flight or high speed train via Shenzhen.

By Flight (from 1.5 hours)

Since you can travel directly, taking a flight is the most hassle-free way to get from Macau to Xiamen. Macau International Airport has about 3 flights to Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport every afternoon. The flight trip needs about 1.5 hours.

By High Speed Train via Shenzhen (from 5.5 hours)

From Macau to Shenzhen, there are ferry, private car and train for you to choose. The ferries may be the most budget choices. Xiamen is about 508 kilometers northeast of Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province. The two cities are well-connected by both high speed train and flight.

By Flight (from 1.5 hours)

Flights starting from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport will land at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport after 1.5 hours. About 9 direct flights are available a day. Shanghai is located at the east coast of China, while Xiamen is at the south. These two coast cities are also settled in the south part of China, enjoying a direct distance for about 825 kilometers. At present, visitors can travel between the two cities by flight or high speed train.

Huangshan City, where visitors can find the famous Yellow Mountain, is about 600km northeast of Xiamen.

By Flight (from 1.5 hours)

The flight between Huangshan and Xiamen is very limited. Every day, there is only one flight providing service between the two cities. The flight departs from Huangshan Tunxi Airport in the afternoon and then stops at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport after 1.5 hours or so.

By High Speed Train (from 4.5 hours)

High Speed Trains make it possible to travel from Huangshan to Xiamen in about 4.5~5 hours. All the trains running between them are high speed G-trains.
