Beyond Expectation: a Journey through Time and Beauty

-- Mazurek's 13 Days China Trip with Hanfu Experience

Traveling provides opportunities to explore new places, experience different cultures, and create unforgettable memories. We often use cameras or smartphones to capture every detail of the landscapes, but what truly makes these photographs special is the presence of loved ones who share these adventures with us.

Mazurek, with 2 best travel companions, embarked on a journey across 5 distinct cities - Beijing, Xian, Zhangjiajie, Guilin, and Shanghai, including diverse immersive activities such as taking a richshaw in Beijing, donning Hanfu in Xian, cruise in Guilin, and biking in Yangshuo. Especially Hanfu experience, characterized by its graceful lines and elegant colors, offers an immersion into the rich tapestry of history, fashion, and tradition. Mazurek and his companions couldn't resist capturing numerous photos encapsulating the happy moments of wearing Hanfu.

This trip was their first time to visit China, which was customized by our travel consultant April. It is scheduled from mid-May to late May, right after the Labor Day Holiday to avoid the crowds. During their 13-day tour, they capture laughter, joy, and surprise, encapsulating the essence of shared experiences. Looking back on their travel photos and routes to relive joyful moments!

Real Feedback about Tour and Service from Mazurek

"The trip was amazing. China is really something different that I imagined, of course in a positive way. Places that we have visited were really worth seeing. In general I have nothing to complain about. Hotels were really comfortable. (to me it was not necessary to sleep in Yangshuo, we could easily return to Guilin the same day to avoid sleeping in different hotels for just one night). The food was very good. Transportation between cities was also comfortable, especially the trains. Of course the amount of transfers was large and every second day we had to unpack and pack again but it was inevitable according to the amount of places we have visited. Guides were also very helpful and gave us a lot of information. Special thanks to Jenny from Xi'an. I think she was the best of all guides and had a lot of patience to answer all of my questions. Thanks a lot."

Day 1~3 Discover the Heart of China in Beijing

Their adventure began in Beijing, the capital city of China and an important transportation hub for international flight arrivals. The first stop was Tiananmen Square. The sheer scale of the square was awe-inspiring, with a palpable sense of reverence. Next, they ventured into the Forbidden City, a marvel of imperial architecture. The intricate details of the palaces, the rich hues of gold and vermilion, transported them back to a time of emperors and courtiers. Their final attraction of today was Jingshan Park, a tranquil escape amidst the urban sprawl, where they caught a panoramic view of Beijing, including a bird’s eye perspective of the Forbidden City.

Continuing their whirlwind exploration of Beijing on the 2nd day, Temple of Heaven captivated them with its elegance and profound historical significance. The blue domes and vibrant red walls contrasted beautifully against the verdant surroundings, inviting a sense of peace and contemplation. From the serene atmosphere of the temple, they transitioned to the rugged magnificence of the Mutianyu Great Wall, which snacked across ridges like a mighty dragon. Concluding the day at the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube, they saw Beijing’s contemporary face which represented a stark contrast to the historical sites.

On the 3rd day, they unveiled picturesque landscapes of the Summer Palace. The sprawling gardens, dotted with ornate pavilions and reflecting pools, presented the very essence of Chinese aesthetics. It was akin to entering a time capsule to dive into the Yandaixie Street - labyrinthine alley known as Hutong. They also hopped on a rickshaw to savor the tradition of ancient Beijing.

Ending Beijing tour, they boarded a train to Xian.

Beijing Travel Tips: 1) In Beijing, mobile payments like Alipay and WeChat Pay are the most commonly used methods and are widely accepted in shops, restaurants, transportation, and even at some tourist attractions. Cash is still accepted, but it's a good idea to carry small denominations as change may not always be available. 2) The Forbidden City and the Great Wall are the top sights in China. Besides, the Temple of Heaven, the Summer Palace, and the Hutongs are undoubtedly iconic sites in Beijing. National Museum of China, Lama Temple offers a peaceful retreat, Jingshan Park, Beijing Olympic Park, and the 798 Art District also have their own charm which worth a visit.

Day 4~5 Walk in the Footsteps of Ancient Dynasties in Xian

On the 4th day, their journey led them to Xi'an, a city steeped in history. Terracotta Warriors and Horses was the first site on their itinerary list. It was a breathtaking archaeological treasure that had stood silent guard since the Qin Dynasty. They then moved on to the Da Cien Temple which was a haven of calm and spirituality nestled amidst the bustling city. Later, they indulged in a unique cultural experience – donning Hanfu. Wearing elegant traditional Chinese clothing, they captured moments through ancient streets with immersion in Chinese heritage, especially took photos with the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda. As night fell, they went to Grand Tang Dynasty Ever Bright City where they witnessed the grandeur of the Tang Dynasty brought alive.

5th day started with a visit to Ancient City Wall. Standing tall and proud since the Ming Dynasty, the walls encircled the old city, offering a glimpse into the defensive strategies of ancient China. The moment they stepped onto the Muslim Quarter, the atmosphere changed dramatically, with vendors selling all sorts of goods ranging from handcrafted souvenirs to local cuisine.

Day 6~7 Explore Avatar Surreal Landscapes in Zhangjiajie

Concluding the culturally immersive journeys through Beijing and Xian, their travels took a scenic turn towards the enchanting landscapes of Zhangjiajie. Zhangjiajie National Forest Park welcomed them with its untouched wildness. At Huangshi Village, towering sandstone pillars pieced the skyline, some of which soared over 1000 meters high, and stood as silent witnesses to geological epochs. As they strolled along the trail of Golden Whip Stream, they were surrounded by lush vegetation, crystalline water, and the soothing melody of the gentle gurgle of water. Their journey then extended to embrace the breathtaking expanse of Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. Walking through Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge, they caught an unparalleled view of the valley below.

The following day, they made their way to Yuanjiajie which was renowned for its otherworldly scenes that inspired the floating Hallelujah Mountains depicted in James Cameron’s film “Avatar”. Day 8~10 Embrace Riverscapes and Serene Countryside in Guilin

After taking a comfortable high-speed train from Zhangjiajie to Guilin, Mazurek’s group set out to explore two of Guilin’s most celebrated landmarks. Elephant Trunk Hill, named for its uncanny resemblance to an elephant drinking water from the Li River, showcased the exquisite craftsmanship of nature for them. Following Elephant Trunk Hill, their exploration shifted underground to Reed Flute Cave reputed as “Art Palace of Nature”. Its intricate stalactites, stalagmites, and underground lakes, were all illuminated by multi-colored lights to enhance their surreal beauty.

Their next day in Guilin was dedicated to the river landscapes that had long been the muse for poets and painters. Li River cruise allowed them to immerse in the idyllic scenery of towering karst mountains, quaint villages, and fishermen perched on bamboo rafts. Upon reaching Yangshuo, a town nestled amid lush greenery and karst peaks, they chose to ride bicycles along the Yulong River to encounter the mesmerizing countryside. Strolling West Street at night, they were treated to a vibrant market filled with local handicrafts, regional delicacies, and the joyous chatter of people.

On 10th day, they were driven back from Yangshuo to Guilin, and then prepared for depature to next chapter in Shanghai. Li River

Craft Dream Journey: Collaborative Planning

When Mazurek reached out to April to inquire about the 13-day tour including Beijing, Xian, Zhangjiajie, Guilin, and Shanghai from late April to early May, he received a detailed itinerary including hotels and a preliminary quotation. But he had a question about whether there would be lower costs if they changed the travel date to avoid the May Day holiday. April friendly reminded them the price would be lower. Hence Mazurek adjusted the travel date to mid-May for a better travel experience. As the tour plan settled, April also helped speed up their visa application by sending them a confirmation letter with a signature by hand.

Faced with sudden changes, April adjusted itinerary with professionalism and flexibility. One month before departure, the flight of Mazurek’s group was canceled, and they booked another flight on the same date. Their first day of touring was unexpectedly shortened due to late arrival. April suggested visiting Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, and Jingshan Park in the afternoon and arranged Summer Palace and Beijing Hutong on Day 3. Though there was a minor adjustment to their itinerary, they were still able to fully appreciate the charm of Beijing.
