In 2022, the Covid-19 pandemic continued to create chaos in China, making it difficult for people to travel. However, Vivien, a professional travel consultant at China Discovery, was determined to help her customers achieve their dream of exploring the beauty of China. She worked tirelessly to stay up-to-date on the latest Covid-19 guidelines and restrictions in China. Knowing that it was crucial to keep her customers informed about any changes or challenges that arose, she communicated with them frequently throughout the planning process.
One of Vivien’s satisfied customers, Ewan, enjoyed a wonderful trip to Inner Mongolia with her help and spoke very highly of her service. In July 2022, Ewan and his mate Kaitlin spent six days exploring the breathtaking natural beauty of Inner Mongolia. Read their story to find your own travel inspirations.
On day one, the guide and driver picked up Ewan and Kaitlin at the hotel and drove them to Kubuqi Desert, one of the largest deserts in China. As soon as they arrived in the region, they were captivated by the wild beauty and untamed wilderness that lay ahead of them. The vast expanse of sand shimmered with different shades of gold and orange in the sunlight, and they strolled hand in hand through the desert as the sun began to set. The sand beneath their feet was warm and soft, and the light of the setting sun cast a warm glow over everything around them. They felt grateful for the opportunity to witness such a breathtaking sight together.

On the next day, their guide took them on a thrilling and awe-inspiring jeep ride through the dunes, and they felt as if they were on an exhilarating rollercoaster ride. The jeep bounced and jolted over the uneven terrain as they made their way deeper into the desert, kicking up clouds of sand in their wake.
Beautiful Kubuqi Desert
After several interesting desert activities on the third day, they headed to Hulunbuir on the fourth morning. Hulunburir Grassland is one of China’s most beautiful grasslands with an extensive panorama of rolling hills and grassy plains. The crisp and fresh air filled their lungs with every breath. Erguna Wetland was also a big highlight where they encountered a diverse array of wildlife, including rare bird species and exotic aquatic plants.

As they continued their journey, they came across the Birch Forest on day five, which was a stark contrast to the vast grasslands they had just left behind. The forest was filled with tall, slender birch trees that seemed to stretch endlessly into the sky. They enjoyed a leisurely hike through the forest, stopping to take in the fresh air and stunning scenery. They also visited Heishantou Grassland, another grand scope of lush green pastures. That night, they stayed in a luxurious yurt with lots of entertainment.

The tour ended on the sixth day, but Ewan and Kaitlin were mesmerized by the beauty of the deserts and grasslands they visited. They said, “We really enjoyed the trip. It was well-organized and took us to some places we would have found difficult to access independently. The guides and drivers were all very friendly and welcoming. They thought of lots of great extra touches, like providing a useful travel pouch and lots of water. It was certainly lucky we used the guide system during Covid-19, as the health code and testing system in Inner Mongolia was very different from where we live in China. We had many problems that we would not have been able to solve by ourselves. We usually travel independently, but we are glad we had a guide on this trip.”
For anyone looking for an unforgettable travel experience, Inner Mongolia is a destination that will not disappoint, especially in summer. From the vast deserts to the rolling grasslands and serene wetlands, this region has something for everyone. And with friendly locals, delicious food, and comfortable accommodations, visitors are sure to have an adventure they will never forget.
