Liugong Island (Chinese: 刘公岛 pinyin: Liúgōng Dǎo), is an unmissable small island located on the northeastern edge of Shandong Peninsula, facing the Yellow Sea. The main scenic spots on the island include Liugong Island National Forest Park, Qidingshan fort, as well as the Sino - Japanese War Museum.

It takes about 20 minutes to visit Liugong Island by ship from Weihai. After your debarking, you can go to the Sino-Japanese War Museum not far away with the main buildings of Beiyang naval commander's office and the Naval Academy which were built in the Qing Dynasty.

Later, you can visit Liugong Island National Forest Park from the north entrance, which is also a rare marine park in China. It is well-forested with a small zoo inside. Affected by the marine climate, Weihai is warm in winter and cool in summer. Every winter, it attracts a large number of migratory birds to stay here the winter, including countless wild swans. In Weihai, there are two main scenic spots to see swans, namely Yandunjiao and Rongcheng Swan Lake.

Yandunjiao is located in Lidao Town, Rongcheng City. Every year from November to March of the next year, thousands of wild swans fly here from Siberia. As people consciously love and protect birds, swans also live in harmony with villagers, which attracts many photographers and visitors.

Located in longxudao Town, Rongcheng, Weihai, Chengshantou, together with Liugong Island and Weihai International bathing beach, are three must-visit scenic sites in Weihai. Chengshantou, surrounded by sea on its three sides, facing south Korea across the sea. It is the easternmost point of China's coast, and it is also the first place and one of the best places to see the sunrise on the sea in the Jiaodong Peninsula. The mountain here is very steep with waves and torrents surging under the cliff. It is an ideal summer resort since ancient times.

The landmark site in the scenic spot is the stone tablet with "endless sky 天无尽头" on it.

As soon as you enter Chengshantou Park, there is a small temple on the hillside. This is the temple of the first emperor of China, Qinshihuang, who visited here twice and the temple was built to commemorate him. Xixiakou Shendiaoshan Wildlife Park is located in the west of Weihai City, about 50 kilometers away from the urban area, with a circumference of about 3 to 4 kilometers. This is a unique coastal wildlife park. There are more than 300 kinds of animals in the park, about 4000 in total. 

There are two routes in the scenic area: driving road and footpath, which are separated into individual zones. You can either drive or walk in the scenic area, but by walking, you can see more animals. The whole route takes about 3 hours. The park is divided into a beast zone, monkey zone, raptor zone, reptile zone, aquarium, and other animal areas, where you can see all kinds of rare animals. The most popular animals in the zoo are snow tiger and lion tiger, and pandas. In the monkey zone, visitors can interact with monkeys under the guidance and protection of the staff. 

The marine animal area is located by the seaside, part of which is directly connected with the sea. There are many marine animals, such as dolphins and sea lions. There are also about four free performances of dolphins, sea lions and other animals in the park every day, which is very interesting.

Nowadays, in modern Weihai, the landmark of Weihai City is happiness gate (幸福门), also known as "Weihai gate". It is located at the easternmost end of Shichang Avenue in Weihai Happiness Park. The design height of the building is 45 meters and the width is 42 meters. The building is about 30 meters above the ground, with a sightseeing corridor (the 11th floor) connected by a horizontal overpass. Standing on the corridor, you can overlook the beautiful Liugong Island to the east, and take a panoramic view of Weihai City Center to the west. A high-quality restaurant is set up at the height of 36m (the 13th floor) and 39m (the 14th floor) to enjoy the beautiful and charming blue sea view while enjoying the delicious food. Weihai Huaxiacheng or Huaxia city is adjacent to Weihai railway station in the East, which is a large-scale cultural resort.
