Penglai: Famous for the Penglai Pavilion
Penglai once was a county in Yantai city, now is the county-level city in Shandong Province. Situated at Shandong Peninsula, bordering Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea, Penglai city is 70 km away from Yantai in the north and 200 km from Qingdao in the south, easily transport by car.
With over 100 historical sites, Penglai is a hot travel destination, especially the Penglai Pavilion, which was regard as “fairyland on earth” since ancient times and the legend of "the Eight Immortals crossing the sea" came from here.
Penglai Pavilion Scenic Area
Known as the fairyland, Penglai Pavilion Scenic Area, the first and foremost Penglai Attraction is located in Danya Mountain, north of Penglai City. It together with the Yellow Crane Tower, Yueyang Tower and Tengwang Pavilion enjoy a reputation of "the four famous buildings" in China.

With an area of 18500 square meters, Penglai Pavilion is a construction complex built in 1061 of the Northern Song Dynasty that includes Sanqing Palace, Lvzu Palace, Tianhou Palace, Longwang Palace and Mituo Temple, which all located in a hillside with different styles, so you need to climb hill to visit them. After that, you can take cable car to Tianheng Mountain and overlook the junction of Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea during the way. Besides, there are Dengzhou Museum and Ancient Ship Museum for visitors to know more history of Penglai.
With mild climate and the air is filled with the smell of grass and sea, the Penglai Pavilion is great place to see wonderful mirage and beautiful sunrise from April to October.
Overlook Penglai Pavilion by Cable Car
Nearby Penglai Pavilion in the west is the Penglai Water City, which is a historical site and was initially used to the truce ship port. Now here has preserved some of the forts, lighthouses, enemy radio stations and etc. It was said the national hero Qi Jiguang had trained the navy and fight against the invaders of China's coastline in Ming dynasty.
