Thank you so much for arranging such an enjoyable trip! It was just right for my elderly sister, not too exhausting, Michael , the tour guide and the driver, Mr. zhang were both very caring and understanding! Pushing my sister in the wheelchair !

The biggest surprise for our whole group was the VIP welcome from Anshan school principal, staff and the little students received us with a warm welcome, followed by a visit to ancestor’s home and meeting with our cousins and aunts!

We thanked Michael for his amazing organization abilities and care!

Meanwhile please take care and keep up this good work.

We also enjoyed the Anshan Fort visit in YongAn and the Zhongshan rd stroll in Xiamen as well as Gulangyu!

This is a very memorable trip for my elderly sister, my niece, my brother , Michael and his wife Jenny . Lucy and I both love the village meal in YongAn and Anxi!

My review for the tour:

1. Travel consultant Wonder Wang is very fast to respond to all our queries and gave us good advice on our routing and timing of travel. He planned a very good itinerary for us based on our budget and where we wanted to go. He also helped us to locate the Liu ancestral hall in Huiyang though it was not part of our tour. We did manage to locate it and are very grateful for his help.

2. The tour arrangements were very smooth and met all our requests. The itinerary was well planned and moved seamlessly through all the places we wanted to see. All the tour guides met us on arrival as scheduled, they spoke excellent English, and were very flexible to rearrange the tour schedule in accordance with the weather conditions. They also adapted to our mobility situation and assisted us with getting up and down steps, and in and out of the vehicles. The drivers drove safely, no speeding and on schedule for our connections to the next destination at the train stations and airports. Bottles of water were provided throughout the tour. Hotels were good, and the rooms were non-smoking rooms as we had requested. They were located conveniently close to restaurants so we could have our dinner at our own pace.

3. We would highly recommend China Discovery and certainly would travel with them again in the future. They took care of every detail, and we had a fantastic time without any stress or worry over travel arrangements.

Thank you again for helping us plan a wonderful and stress free vacation. I was grateful for how patient you are when answering our questions and especially when we try to make our payment through a local bank. On the tour itself, the hotel we stayed at in Xiamen was the Jingmin Hotel. It was a lovely hotel with courteous and efficient staff. Rooms are clean, breakfast is delicious with a lot of food options and different cuisines. We were glad we opted to try their dinner buffet. It was both delicious and value for money with abundant shrimps, oysters, scallops and crabs. We are particularly happy with our Xiamen tour guide Cathy who has been a fountain of information and pointed out interesting people, places and events. She also made sure my parents have priority queues (where possible) and provided alternative sites when the tour would take us to places my parents cannot walk/climb. Of course, she still leaves the final decision to us. We really appreciate how Cathy and our driver Mr. Wong assisted my aging parents and made the trip very comfortable for them. Mr. Wong even provided water for us, which is very thoughtful of him. Cathy's service is really above and beyond when she helped us book bullet train tickets (this was after their tour and not inclusive) which was way out of our league since we didn't speak nor write Mandarin. Next time we're going to China, I'm just going to book a tour all the way! The second part of the tour was in Wuyishan, where we stayed at Honglin Hotel. It was also a lovely hotel with courteous and efficient staff except they don't serve dinner and breakfast wasn't that nice. This is the main reason why we truly appreciated our guide Cherry. Upon learning that our hotel doesn't have a restaurant that serves dinner, Cherry immediately called a nearby local restaurant and managed to get them to serve us dinner. The food was delicious! Actually, all her recommendations for places to eat were heavenly. So much so that we didn't go for our free hotel breakfast on the 2nd day, and just asked Cherry to introduce us to a local breakfast joint. All in all, the entire experience was fun, educational, comfortable and worry-free. I'll definitely come to you and your company again when I come back to China.

Given the premium we paid for your tour, I expected more in depth historical facts of the vbillages and individual tulous, as well as more knowledge about building style, building methods and use of spaces.

Everything is OK.Every places are interesting and glad to see modern China. Happy to see my wife’s grand relatives native. Especially your guide Adam is very helpful due to my wife suffering knee pain with using wheelchair. Helping wheelchair person in hilly and steps area today is not easy.

Hotels good, driver good (very professional and nice), and also the guide was great. It was a nice relaxing and beautiful long weekend, and we both want to go back to Xiamen again soon. Such great food (Chinese and western) available, and great scenery to relax or do outdoor activities. We both had a great time this weekend.

I would say the only weakness was the dinner in the small town, but we understand this is the slow season for tourism, and we had otherwise really great food! It was a great trip though, we are even more excited for Harbin!

I love Xiamen. I think it's underrated. You did really excellent. Tulou coverage. I appreciated not getting wiped out by tour bus crowds. The first hotel was wonderful, I loved that it had a gym and you could set your own room temp RE heat/ac. The second hotel was fine, I know it's what is available that's hotel level I think in the long-term you may look at a different hotel near the Tulous as more are built and once the highway comes in, you may look for others to avoid crowding. For the Tulou part, our lunches were amazing, while dinner situation was less so , the hotel restaurant had closed by the time we got there, one of few small foibles. I really liked our guide, he was knowledgeable and adaptable, and I liked that he was willing to take us to food places we enjoyed. Our driver was excellent too, brave and fast. It was a wonderful trip and a true escape.

"We had a wonderful time in Huangshan, we were brave to climb that mountain, even my husband did it, slowly, but we did it.  The Huangshan guide was excellent, the hotel you booked us was beautiful and people there were very friendly. Love the food too, especially bamboo shoot."

In Chengdu:

"What a pleasure to finally met you!! Meeting you was the highlight of my visit to China!! And thank you for taking us to dinner and given us such wonderful experience! The food was so tasty, the ambience was wonderful, my husband liked it very much! But the best part of all was having it with you! We enjoyed it enormously! This is such a memorable journey, and you helped made it happened Thank you for being so detail oriented; it is incredible for you being so young yet so thorough!

Yesterday we saw the Big Buddha at Ling Yun Mt, the weather was perfect and no crowd. We did not go down the stairs to the foot of the Buddha cause it really is too high and steep. Later we went to the Ebony Museum, what an amazing & massive collection! In the evening we went to see a show, it was the 4th show we saw,  one in Shanghai, one in Huangshan, one in Yangshou, and the best one here on Sichuan. It was almost 10:30 pm my time we got back to the hotel.

And this morning we had to wake up early for our 8 o'clock journey to Mt.Emei. We climbed the steeped & very wet steps, it was a little hard today because it was so cloudy and cold and the air is so thin on top! We did not walk down the mountain, instead, we rode the Sedan Chair! What an experience! We loved it. Those guys are so strong and fast!! "

Hi Ian,

The tour was exactly what we wanted. It met every expectation.

The car was excellent.

The driver was excellent.

The guide was excellent.

The guide and driver shared information which was terrific so between them they knew all the right spots to take us. The outline of the trip was very good and we covered everything plus more. The café’s selected for lunch and dinner were excellent for local food. The guide gave us information and spoke with respect to the local people. And taught us to show the same respect which was good.

The tour moved at our pace and we were never hurried if we wanted to stay longer at one site. Always offered toilet breaks and asked if we required a rest break. I also sat in the front of the car so I could see more. When sites were very busy with tourists we went to the smaller sites first then the larger sites when less tourists were there. Guide was excellent and you should use him every time. The experience of being able to go to the top level of an earthen building was amazing. One has to go up the stairs early before many tourists arrive or late after the tourists had left. This was an extra small cost 15Y but really worth it. The local lady that took us up was terrific. And the guide was excellent at interpreting for us.

The tour went smoothly with no problems. We would be happy to email any other western clients to talk to them about this Fujian Tulou trip, in the future.

About Xiamen trip, we really impressed and enjoyed. Tom, who is a tour guide, is professional and has a good knowledge about Xiamen. The driver is also drive safely. Overall, the trip was wonderful.
