I was certainly very happy with both the guide Sandy and the driver in Chengdu. They were friendly and helpful. The driver was careful, his car was immaculate, he lent me his umbrella and always arrived promptly. He and Sandy took great trouble to find restaurants for lunch and Sandy obtained a ticket for me to attend the opera. Sandy spoke good English, was interesting, knowledgeable and good company.

Good morning Tracy!
Time flies we are now on our last day in China. A few guides who I would like to highlight as exceptional are Mei (Kashgar), Jessica (Huangshan), Alice (Dali) and Anna (Shangrila). They are knowledgeable, good command of English, always cheerful and helpful. and provide above and beyond expectations. Alice and Anna done very good in their approach. They would give a brief introduction of places we were going and then elaborate when arrived. This set our expectations and then understanding of the places. All drivers are fine but Mr Wang from Guilin sets a very high standard.
Of course not forgetting your exceptional service as well throughout our 1 month stay in China. We escaped typhoon twice in Shanghai!

Hi Leo,
I found the form but couldn’t type directly on it. So, here are my answers.
• My travel consultant was Leo. He promptly answered all my questions through e-mails.
• The tour arrangement was perfect for my needs. It was not fully packed from early morning to late evening. I had enough time to rest and recover for the next day.
• I have already written a review on China Travel Guide & Visa News group page on Facebook recommending your service.
• Overall, I think you’re very transparent about what the tour covers. You provided a detailed itinerary that was easy to follow. Other tourists with other agencies in my group didn’t get such detailed itinerary. It was also easy to contact you through e-mail and get prompt replies.
• I think the guides should give out name cards with their name and contact information. We should also be told the name of the driver picking us up at the hotel. On my last day, I was told the driver would pick me up at noon. When I checked out at 11:30, he was already there. I asked if he’s my noon pick up driver to the airport. He confirmed it. Then around noon I got a call from my tour guide, but my local phone service somehow disconnected the call. I thought I was picked up by a different driver. It was very confusing.

It is called Rongbu hotel and run by the monastery.
I had to pay 240 yuan extra.
Being an elderly man I like my privacy.
The hotel also has oxygen supply just like the trains.
So next time book this place for future guests who are prepared to pay for privacy.

Dear Rita,
We have just arrived at our next destination in Thailand, and our Malaysian friends have arrived back home in Penang.
Thank you so much for all the arrangements, which was initiated over 4 years ago and disrupted by the outbreak of Covid 19. I am especially thankful that you have accepted my frequent request to add additional participants which eventually increased from 2 to 4 to 6 and finally to 7.
The tour itinerary was very comprehensive covering not just Tibet itself but also the two cities where Tibetans have strong influence, namely Xining and Shangri-La.
The only regret we have is not being able to take the train from Xining to Lhasa as this was to be one of the highlights of this trip, but the flight between these two cities was an excellent one with a beautiful view of the snow capped mountains.
I would certainly recommend China Discovery to anyone who would wish to visit China, especially the Tibetan region.
Thanks again.

Hi Wonder,
Thanks for looking into our Bhutan hotel situation and for providing information into the hotels that were in our original itinerary.
Thimphu - we really liked Om Amriti. The owners and staff were very friendly and accommodating, the rooms were nice and comfortable, and the food delicious.
Punakha - Hotel River Valley was okay for one night. The hotel does cater to Indians but they were friendly and considerate. I was surprised our rooms were on different floors since we were traveling as a group, although this was the case in some of the other cities too.
Paro - Khangkhu Resort was not up to par with the other hotels as I previously shared.
We wear hiking to the Tigers Nest when you sent your email so we did not receive your offer for the hot stone bath and services. We will be going to a restaurant for dinner in Paró tonight so we hope to have a nice farewell dinner this evening.
Thanks,

Yes, we arrived home on Friday night. It was a long trip Lhasa-Xi'an-Katmandhu-Doha-London. The only problem with the return was in Xi'an. Because we had no internet (SIM card) we could not download the health declaration when we left, so it took 1.5 hours to check in and get some help. I would recommend that anyone going to Tibet/China is advised to get a SIM card, or to download the health declaration when they are in the hotel.
Apart from that, everything went very smoothly. Guide and driver were good and we had an amazing time. Hotels were all very good, but we struggled some evenings to work out where or what to eat.
No issues with the Mt Kailash kora and we were lucky with good weather.
The guide gave us a feedback form to complete and I have attached this.
We are very grateful for you helping plan an excellent and unforgettable trip and we are very happy to recommend you and Tibet Discovery to other people. if you would like me to write a short testimonial for your website, please let me know.

Hi, Wonder ,
First of all, thanks a lot for organizing this wonderful trip for me! It was really perfect in every aspect.
I have so many photos, more than 2000, so still in the process of sorting them.
Here some answers to your questions:
1. Is your travel consultant of our company fast enough to answer your E-mail and patient enough to answer your questions?
YES! It was really perfect, I had many questions and individual requests, and I was extremely happy how fast and professional everything was answered and immediately organized according to my ideas. It was surely one of the best experiences I have ever had.
2. How’s the service of the tour guides during your whole tour?
The guides were very professional and knowledgeable, and therefore made sure that the itinerary was enjoyable and all sights were perfectly represented.
3. Would you like to recommend our company? For sure, 100%!
Regarding the itinerary, as I said everything was perfect. Just a recommendation in general: - Maybe if I would skip one thing, it would be the Sangke grassland. It is a rather small area, not so natural but very commercialized, and I think not so interesting for tourists from Europe or Central Asia. - One place where I would rather have spent more time is Gyantse. A very beautiful town but due to the very packed itinerary we arrived there only at 5.30pm so had just short time to see Palcho monastery and nothing else. It was one of my favorite places.
Once again, thank you so much for your support and patience, over almost 4 years, to finally get this trip organized. I can't wait to come back another time!
Best regards

Hotel location is perfect. Just beds are a bit too hard. Beside that really everything was great. Also we think the way the tour was planned was perfect.

Hi Wonder,
We did quite a lot of research for travel agency before heading for our first trip to Lhasa, Tibet; since foreign travelers to Tibet have to purchase a tour. China Discovery did a great job in helping us get the Tibet Tourism Bureau permit, booking our train tickets from Xining, Qinghai Province, to Lhasa; and organizing a private Tibetan guide, Tenzin, and a driver, for our 5 days in Tibet. They also helped us with all Covid-19 safety measures and authorization requirements). Great sceneries and sites, especially Yamdrok Lake, Khambala pass (4800m), Potala Palace, Sera Monastery and Deprung Monastery. Our guide Tenzin spoke very well in English and was very helpful.
My suggestion: No need to visit Summer Palace; suggest organizing visit of Yack herd with Nomads in higher plateau and in Snow area. Otherwise, very good and Tenzin was excellent

Here the Federal Council has categorized the situation in Switzerland as extraordinary (the highest level) under the terms of the Epidemic Act and has tightened existing measures and enacting new ones affecting the public, organizations and institutions.
From midnight on, all public and private event have been banned, restaurants, bars, shops are closed etc., etc.. Public transportation offer will be reduced. Pharmacies and food stores are open. Many people are working from their home. Similar measures as in other countries. We stay at home and usually only go outside for buying food. But in general the situation is becoming very critical. Hello Riley
I have just submitted a review to trip advisor.
Here is a bit more information than I posted in the review.
Firstly, I want to thank you for your assistance and perseverance in organising our trip. We appreciate your listening to what we wanted and fitting in our requests as best you could. As a result the holiday was fabulous and included things we like to see and do and didn’t include the ‘normal’ mass tourist things.
Your guides are excellent. We appreciated all guides, but we would especially like to mention Zhouma (Lhasa), Jessie (Kunming) and Tutu (Zhangjiajie), they have a wealth of knowledge which they are able to impart in an enthusiastic manner, and they are also very very helpful. Zhouma and Jessie’s assistance with firstly my Ipad and then my clay colours was exceptional and truly appreciated.
We had many highlights along the way but if I have to name a few I would say Muslim Street in Xian (I had previously been to the Terracotta Warriors, so it was a repeat trip – though still amazing), the Potala Palace and walking the circle around the Jokhang Temple in Lhasa, Green Lake Park in Kunming, the Impression show in Yangshou, just about all the mountain activities in Zhangjiajie.
We will certainly be recommending you and China Discovery to anyone who is interested in travelling to China.

All our requests and questions over the months of planning the trip were answered promptly. Our guide in Chengdu made our day at the Panda Research Center and cooking experience a day we will always remember.
Our guide in Tibet was Fantastic, he was very interesting and fun and easy to be with for the week, we enjoyed our visit to Tibet very much.
Our our short time in Chongqing was wonderful and we appreciated the last minute tour that we booked our last afternoon and evening.
All the guides and drivers were very helpful and were where and when they said they would be at all times which made all the train stations and airport experiences easy.
We would definitely use you and your company again if we ever get the opportunity to return to China.

Review of China Discovery
Our group of 7 toured 3 weeks across China from Shanghai to Tibet. It was to be the trip of a lifetime, and it was. In my due process to search for the best itinerary and TA for us, I found Leo Li of China Discovery. Compared to other top in-China TAs, CD and Leo Li gave me everything I wanted including the best price for the desired itinerary. None of us were strangers to China. I was born there and had been there 5 times since, while the others had toured the capital cities but never the remote regions of Hunan, Sichuan, Yunnan, and Tibet.
We were always prompted met with a guide as soon as we left the airport security area; we were transported in clean mini-vans with plenty of bottled water. It was always door-to-door everytime. We would be dropped off at one end and after the tour, the mini-van would be waiting for us at the other end -- no backtracking. Nothing was ever stolen or missing in the secured vans. The many guides we met were always courteous and spoke varying degrees of fluency but always well-informed. One even held my wife's hand as she walked slowly on icy pathways in Huanglong National Park.
Their pricing was reasonable -- better than if I booked myself. We stayed in not only elegant country inns, but also at Pullman, Sofitel, Shangri-la, and Grand Hyatt.
I have nothing but praise for Leo and his team. He is easily accessible 24/7. That is really necessary in China. His English is flawless, his personality infectious. We met him in Chengdu. Ask for Leo Li.

Exceptional experience for architecture students in Tibet!
Review of China Discovery
Pending review
As the travel coordinator for a graduate school at a major US university, I work with travel industry professional daily. I can honestly say that the service provided by Riley Guo and Tibet Discovery was the best I have ever encountered. From the moment we decided to reserve a tour for a group of our graduate students and faculty until the day the group returned, Riley Guo was exceptional. We had less than thirty days to organize passports to China, travel permits to Tibet and the trip itself. Many experienced travel professionals told me that it would be impossible to organize a group to travel to Tibet in that short time period. Well, they haven't met Riley or worked with China Discovery. Because we did it! And our group had an unbelievable time.
Riley was involved every step of the way. She advised us on visa requirements, the flights, tour details, how to prepare the students for what they would encounter in Tibet. Every e-mail I sent to her (and I probably e-mailed her daily for the entire month of planning) was promptly answered and every question answered. She was the model of efficiency and a treasure-trove of knowledge. We never could have organized this trip without her. She even provided the faculty traveling with the students with her personal cell phone number because she was going to be away on holiday during the time the group was in China/Tibet and urged them to contact her during her own vacation if they needed assistance during the trip. Honestly, where else can you find that level of service??
The students and faculty had a remarkable visit. They saw sights that will stay with them forever. The hotels were perfect. The food was great. The tour guides instructive and knowledgeable. The travel plan went without a hitch. Everything promised was provided and then some. Our group was traveling for educational purposes (they are architecture students) and not simply on a tour and the tour guide made every effort to create a program that would meet the educational goals of the trip and highlight areas that would be of interest to our students.
I can't praise China Discovery or Riley enough. I will definitely use them again for future trips. I wish all tour companies operated like this company. Everything was perfect! Thank you China Discovery!

Hi Leo,
Apologies for my delayed response. My family and I greatly appreciated the beautiful gifts that you had sent us. We also greatly enjoyed our experience with the Tibet tour. My feedback is overwhelmingly positive! Thank you also for accommodating my family's request for the additional hotel room. It was decided on the trip that it would have been best to have three rooms instead of two. The hotel in Lhasa had wonderful accommodations as did the hotel in Shigatse, though our first night in Shigatse had rooms that seemed a bit outdated. However, it was still very comfortable. I also appreciated the experience at the Rongbuk Guest House because it was such a unique experience. Most of us could not sleep at the Rongbuk Guest House but that was due to the high elevation and not because of the room.
The tour guide and driver kept us on schedule and our tour guide shared very good information. We all felt it was very thorough and informative beyond what we could have learned on our own. He was also transparent with adjusting the schedule and I thought that was a very good adjustment. It was probably better to do the longer sightseeing drive (11 hours) going back to Lhasa from Shigatse rather than what was originally on the itinerary. By then, we had been more acclimated with the altitude so we were less tired and able to enjoy the sights more. I think that was a very good change. He was also great with helping us navigate through all the monasteries and palaces, even with the large number of other tour groups.
My mother did have some feedback regarding some of the bathrooms along the way from Shigatse to Lhasa as well as the bathroom at the Rongbuk Guest House. However, I did share with her that we were informed in advance about the more rugged conditions. She wanted me to share this with you, but everyone else in my group had no issue with the bathrooms as we understand that there are certain areas in Tibet that are far less developed.
Thank you again for your hospitality. I have also shared my positive feedback with my Uncle Stephen who will be in China with your company later this month. I do plan to return to China and possibly visit a different area in the future and will reach out to your company when the time comes.

I was going to email you when I got home to say thank you very much - it was a very good trip and with hindsight my only regret is not doing a longer trip to include mount kailsdh and possibly lake namtso.
They changed the itinerary so I left for Everest a day early and I think the original plan would have been better with on more day to acclimatise, but luckily I was ok and we were lucky with the weather - we saw the top of Everest at night and the bottom of Everest in the morning.
So I would very much recommend the trip to anyone. The guides were nice and everything worked perfectly.
Thank you very much for all your help. I will look at the chengdu bamboo site when I get home to see what else you offer - I still have about 4 or 5 further Chinese itineraries to work out.

Dear Mr.Leo Li'
Please find below some comments regarding our experience in Tibet-Nepal.
All the guides, in Chengdu (Mrs. Gila), Tibet (Mr. Po Ta) and Nepal (Mr. Bishnu) provided us an excellent service, they were very informative, forbearing and helpful about every matter along our stay (check in/out in the hotels, tickets for the attractions, rides, queues etc etc), also the drivers were very skilled and safe in driving us to the many visited spots.
The vehicles were in good condition of maintenance, we always found bottles of water on board for us (provided by the assistant driver)
The daily organization of the visits in China and Nepal was mostly done in the perfect timing, respecting the schedule (some more consideration about Nepal will follow)
The included lunches and dinners, were very welcome.
Almost all the hotels were very good, high standard, comfortable, clean and the their staff very helpful.
The only exception was the hotel in Gyirong, of very low level (one star ? maybe less) and very old.
Furthermore the morning after we slept there, we found out that there was no water in the bathroom and it was really a bad situation for us and at our request to do something the staff was not helpful at all.
It seems that the missing of water in that hotel (maybe in all the city) is recurrent , but in this case would have been very simply to provide some spare water in the rooms.
A note about the "road" on the border from China to Nepal.... from the information provided in the program/itinerary we supposed to find a bumpy and muddy one ....but in reality it was much worst than that, the journey by car was stressful, very long and extremely dangerous (no guardrail at all and the overhanging on the river in the valley !!!).
The drivers were very skilled and they drove in the safest possible way, but at end for the time needed to get in Kathmandu would have been better to return from the Everest Camp Base to Lhasa and take a flight.
The itinerary in Nepal should be balanced a bit better considering the huge time needed for the transfers, of course not because of the schedules provided by the guide or the driver but because of the incredible traffic jam and the very poor conditions of the "roads", for example both Patan and Bhaktapur visits would have been deserved more time.
Same consideration for the time needed to go and to come back to Nagarkot, where, beyond that, the view is also too variable because of the weather.
In Chitwan park, the possible options to chose from, should have been provided (and booked) before (as we requested many times by email) because not everyone can enjoy what scheduled by default.
Some of the group didn't like to ride the elephant because this causes him/her pain, and for the same very poor conditions in which the animals were kept (chained and with no space), they didn't like the "elephant breeding center".
To conclude, the suggestion is to include in the itinerary/program all the possible information and details (even the sensitive ones, as the mentioned bad treatment of the animals), so that the clients have the right to decide what to see and what to skip.
Dear Mr.Leo Li, hope what above gives you a better feedback about the great adventure we lived thanks to your agency services.
And please share our special thank also to the representatives of the local nepalese agency, they were very welcoming and helpful.
We'll be happy to be back to you, with further details in future if requested

We’ve boarded our train to Xining, but it was delayed for almost an hour. We departed at 14:15. We thought our guide Nancy in Xining May need to know.
We’ve had a great time so far- thank you so much for organising this trip!

Greetings,
The trip was everything we asked for. The hotels were centerally located and we had no problem navigating thru the city to eat and shop.
The guides were more than helpful. They all gave us their cell numbers for if we needed assistance whether we were on their tour or not. Each guide (particularly Lob Song in Tibet) were so kind, understanding and helpful with my husband's disability and my breathlessness at the high altitude.
The trip went flawlessly. Never were we left to fend for ourselves and in fact the driver who took us to the airport in Xian walked us all the way to security and made sure we had no problems getting thru on the way to Tibet. (this was a great help as my luggage was overweight and the airport agent spoke no English)
The tours were comprehensive and the guides spoke very good English and gave us great suggestions. The restaurants picked for our meals were more than satisfactory. (Great Food, even the ones around the hotels)
The hotels were quite comfortable and had nice cafes and restaurants either in them or just a few steps away.
The ShamBala had a nice little café next door that displayed art by a Tibet artist names Zhon Hua. I have been trying to find her at work for sale on the internet, but have been unable.
Perhaps you have a lead on this? EXAMPLE
She paints young some young Tibet children (one called Monk Boy) that I like very much
You did a great job arranging the tour it was all we asked.
My sincere thanks

This is Susan Lee. Thank you for organizing my trip to China (Chengdu, Tibet
and Xi'an). I was in China in 1987 but did not visit these cities but in
general I see such so much modernization. I had a great time. Attached are the
evaluations for each of the cities. Would you kindly send the evaluations to
the local agencies in Tibet and Xi'an. Under separate cover, I will send some
photographs of pandas. Once again, thank you preparing the itinerary. Best

Our days in Lhasa were very good. Only one downside is that we were not able to see sky full of stars because of not so good weather.
Thank you very much for your assistance.

I am sorry for the delayed reply but I am more than happy to answer your questions.
1. Our travel consultant Ashley, was extremely helpful, patient as I changed my requirements and prompt in all communications.
2. All of the guides and transport arrangements were first class. I have travelled extensively in China and found all of the arrangements to be excellent. The hotels chosen were simple but to a very good clean standard and extremely well placed.
3.I would certainly use the services of Tibet Travel again and recommend them highly.
I am happy for you to use these comments if they are helpful and will try to send you some pictures separately. This was my 61st visit to China so as you can imagine i have experienced various levels of service over the years. If you Google me you will find various references to me and China!!!

Dear Lyn,
We have returned home yesterday and are still a little bit jet lagged, but we would like to express our great thanks to you for organizing for us such a wonderful tour through China and Tibet.
All arrangements have worked out perfectly and at no point we did not feel unsupported by you and your team of guides and drivers. All your regional guides were friendly, knowledgeable and spoke good English and committed to make our stay interesting. All hotels were very comfortable (obviously a couple hotels in Tibet were a bit cold but this is to be expected in the winter in such altitude and in the low season), all cars comfortable and clean and all drivers very good and kind. We cannot possibly find anything we could complain about. All your arrangements worked brilliantly from the moment we step off the plane in Hong Kong to the moment we step into the plane in Chengdu.
We will have lots of great memories and photos to remember our trip and are considering visiting China again at some point in the future. If we do we will certainly use China Discovery again without hesitation.
Many thanks for all your help, advise and care and we will recommend you to all our friends wishing to visit your wonderful country.
Kind regards and best wishes,
Alena and Roger

You were more than patient to answer my questions and very helpful in every way, when I had to change the dates at last minute you work all weekend just to help us out. The tour guides where excellent! We enjoyed every place and we did because the tour guides where really nice and locals to the places we visited, that was really the best.

1: Our travel consultant, Wonder Wang, was excellent. He promptly and completely answered all questions that I asked prior to the trip. Towards the end of the tour, a flight was cancelled with no prior notification to the fliers or to the tour company. Through Mr. Wang, the problem was swiftly and professionally resolved, providing seats on the only remaining flight of the day, on a different airline, at no additional cost.
2: We had 2 tour guides. The first was Jiang Yong, who led our tour during the several day stay in Lhasa. He was personable and knowledgeable, providing information and answering all specific questions in a way that deepened and broadened understanding of Tibetan culture and customs. Although the attractions on the tour were obviously amazing, it was his reverent-patient presentations/explanations that made the visit so much more meaningful. The second tour guide was Lob Sang, who led a partial day tour in Xining at the Ta'er/Kumbum Monastery. There was not sufficient time in the tour to develop a personable relationship with him, but he was professional in every way. And it might be noted, it was he who importantly was able to best convey the problem with the flight cancellation, dealing each with airline personnel of the cancelling airline, airline personnel of the airline providing later in day service, and with Mr. Wang of the tour company for the purchase of tickets. At his insistence, he remained with us until the ticket-purchase could be verified.
3: The tour was simply amazing. I've read many books about Tibet, but this for me was a lifetime journey to personally appreciate Tibetan culture in reality. The planning, the tour guides, the attractions…all were appropriately fitted into a specifically busy schedule which included other travel commitments. Our tour group was just 4 people plus the guide and driver, enabling both a broad array of questions and no difficulty in hearing responses and other information.
I would have a difficult time choosing among travel photos taken, and yet, I doubt that any I'd send would add to your inventory in a meaningful way. Just know that I would heartily recommend the tour to others, noting that a fair amount of climbing is essential to enjoy the attractions. Also, tour participants should be mindful that all of China is on one time zone, if other China travels are planned as well.
Thanks for your excellent tour services.

Dear Jack,
First of all I would like to say that the trip was really fantastic. We were impressed with the organization and the guides who cared for us. We have told our friends about the trip and China Discovery in the highest level of praise. I will put these comments into the Trip Advisor link. And we were especially happy with your responsiveness during our planning and travel stages. I have to admit that I was not so optimistic while we were planning the trip just mainly because my husband found your company online. I am always cautious since there are so many scams that are easy to pull through over the internet. We have been to hotels that were presented online as gorgeous places but which was photo-shopped. So when the trip began and everything went super well, I was extremely happy. Thank you Jack for your excellent service!
The Tibet part of the trip was the highlight. The guide was very responsive, the hotel was so nice as was the service, prices, etc. Do not change anything there! We were lucky in having a very nice man join our tour which made things very interesting and fun. Tibet is amazing. And the train ride to Beijing was so interesting and the organization between guides excellent. So you can read that we were very happy with our tour.
I wish you all the very best!

Lastly 4000 steps of stairs plus a double downs to tops ride of cable car to reach the peak station of Huashan in the outskirt of Xian was such a stunning and challenging trip.
