Jingdezhen is reputed as the “Capital of Porcelain” in China. The International Pottery and Porcelain Festival is held on October 12 every year, and the active time from Oct.01 to Oct.31.
Many activities are included in this festival like a grand international ceramics show, an exhibition of Jingdezhen porcelain products from Tang Dynasty to Qing Dynasty, an exhibition of ceramic works by famous contemporary artists, porcelain making demonstrations, tea ceremonies, international ceramics symposium etc. Not only the choice porcelain works can be admired, visitors also have a chance to make and paint porcelain themselves. Through the festival, visitors could learn a lot about porcelain history and Porcelain Capital - Jingdezhen.

No.2: Learn about Porcelain and Ceramic

Since the period of Han Dynasty, Jingdezhen has had the ceramic industry. Up to now, it has more than 2000 years of history. An imperial kiln was built in 1369 and its wares became so highly regarded – “as white as jade, as thin as paper, as bright as a mirror, as tuneful as a bell”. Porcelain of Jingdezhen has a beautiful shape, various types, rich decorations and unique styles. Qinghua Porcelain, Linglong Porcelain, Fencai Porcelain and Seyou Porcelain altogether are called Four Traditionally Famous Porcelains in Jingdezhen.

No.3: Wander along Ancient Porcelain Street

It is in the center of Jingdezhen. It was the busiest street in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, now renowned for its long history and beautiful traditions that come from its ancient culture. The street is composed of three parts, each of which fully reflects its prosperous past. Exquisitely designed and decorated residences were clearly the elite residences of their time and demonstrate the highest skills and architectural knowledge of Chinese artisans of their eras.
You can also enjoy many local snacks and buy porcelain or other souvenirs. The prices are not high, and you can bargain with the shopkeepers.

Time: Every Saturday morning
The Pottery Workshop Creative Market happens every Saturday morning in the Sculpture Factory from eight am to twelve pm. Over one hundred vendors, comprised of young local artists, sell their artistic works. The Creative Market has been a catalyst for inspiring creativity and entrepreneurialism for the emerging Chinese artists in Jingdezhen. Every week you can find a wide variety of artwork ranging from traditional pottery or contemporary designs, to jewelry, sculpture, and much more.
