Know before you go: 1.Weather - Wugong Mountain can be visited all year round since it has different sceneries in four seasons. However, it will be cold and slippery in winter for it’s covered with snow. Tourists are not recommended to hike in cold weather conditions. Whenever you want to hike Wugong Mountain, remember to check the weather conditions beforehand. 2. Meal - There are limited restaurants and hotels that can provide food. It is recommended to bring some food such as instant noodles, chocolate, compressed biscuits, etc.

- Day 1 Wugong Mountain Arrival & Ascending Trip

Welcome to Wugong Mountain! Upon arrival, your tour guide and driver will meet you at Pingxiang Railway Station or Pingxiang North Railway Station, and then escort you to Wugong Mountain directly. A shuttle bus provided by the scenic area will take you to the climbing entrance.
You will start your hiking adventure from Drum-liked Stone Temple (石鼓寺) to learn about mysterious Zen culture. Then take Zhongan Cable Car (about 10 minutes) to ascend to Ziji Palace (紫极宫) which was built in the Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368). It is an important Taoist architecture and one of the top three temples on Wugong Mountain with an embossed wall at the front of the palace gate, displaying the Taoist celebrities and culture. After that, you will walk through Fuxing Valley Trestle (福星谷栈道) high up in the air to witness the steepness and grandness of Wugong Mountain. Uphill with a short ride of Golden Peak Cable car (about 10 minutes), a vast Alpine Meadow will stretch on all sides as far as the eye can see. You can enjoy the rest of the day immersing in the alpine meadow and watching beautiful sunset scenery (usually around 7 pm).
Nearby the mountaintop, you will check in for your hotel (about 15 minutes walk from Golden Peak) which is booked in advance. If lucky enough, a starry sky will accompany you at night.
Accommodation Notice: Hotels are limited on the mountaintop and may be unavailable in peak season. Tourists can also choose a hotel halfway up the mountain but are likely to miss the sunrise scenery. The final itinerary can be adjusted according to the tourists’ hotel location.
Arrival Ideas: Currently, there is no civil airport in Pingxiang. You can get to Pingxiang by high-speed trains from Shanghai (5 hrs), Changsha (0.5 hrs), Guangzhou (3.5 hrs), Nanchang (1 hr), and so on.

- Day 2 Wugong Mountain Descending Hike & Departure

Hiking: about 7.8 km / 6-7 hrs; altitude increasing: about 300 m
Get up early to appreciate the fabulous sunrise landscape (usually around 5:30 am to 6:30 am) and stroll around the alpine meadow to breathe fresh air. It’s a good time to snap some photos to record this moment. Then visit the Ancient Altar Group (古祭坛群) where you can pray for a blessing. These buildings were not supported by beams and pillars, but piled with granite stones, showing the wisdom of ancient people. Then climb up to the Golden Peak (金顶) which is the highest peak in Jiangxi (1918.3 m).
Next, your descending hiking tour starts. You will hike to Diaoma Stake (吊马桩), and then head to hit attractions featuring waterfalls such as Jinhusajiu Waterfall (金壶洒酒瀑), Couple Waterfall (夫妻瀑), Red Rock Valley Waterfall (红岩谷瀑布), and Seven Immortals Pool (七仙潭). It will take about 3 to 4 hours to finish the waterfall-viewing hike and then you can get to the foot of the mountain.
Tour ends! Your tour guide will escort you to the nearby Railway Train Station for your next destination.
Wearing and Packing Tips: Please note the descending route is not well-paved. It’s highly recommended to prepare hiking shoes and alpenstocks.
