What to See on Tuojiang River Boat

If tourists embark on a boat trip, Wanming Tower, Duocuilou Building, Rainbow Bridge, and Longevity Palace are the must-see highlights along the river bank!

Home to Miao and Tujia ethnic groups, stilted wooden houses are living testaments to their tradition and craftsmanship. Tourists can observe these buildings from a unique perspective by cruise. Duocui Building is one of the highest and fairest stilted buildings among them. Gliding past Rainbow Bridge, you can feel the bridge's sturdiness since it has gone through the vicissitudes of life. At the end of the trip, you will meet Wanming Tower which is about 22 meters high with a seven-story structure.

At night, Tuojiang River comes alive with dim yellow light, adding a magic touch to the enchanting town.

The boat gets on North Gate Tower Dock or Wanming Tower. North Gate Tower Gate is in the middle reaches of Tuojiang River, while Wanming Tower is located in the downstream. The cruise is round-trip, usually lasting about 0.5 hours. Most travelers will enter the ancient town from Nanhua Gate. If tourists want to start their exploration with a leisure cruise, they can just walk along Biaoying Street from Nanhua Gate directly to North Gate Tower Dock. It is just about 500 meters and takes 6 minutes.

Tourists can also visit cultural and historical sites in Fenghuang Ancient Town first, and then wander to North Gate Tower Dock or Wanming Tower.

Normally, tourists spend  1~2 days in Fenghuang Ancient Town to visiting the 8 core attractions in the town and nearby attractions such as Furong Ancient Town, South Great Wall, Dehang Miao Village etc.

Most travelers would tour Fenghuang Ancient City with the top highlight in Hunan province - Zhangjiajie, one of the most famous UNESCO world heritage sites in China for 3 to 5 days.
