Get from Huangshan North Railway Station to Hongcun Village

By Driving: If you want an efficient and sightseeing journey, you are can rent a private car and use the travel service from a travel agency like China Discovery. By driving, you can get to Hongcun Village within 1.5 hours. You will have freedom the take a stop for sightseeing or photograph. Tachuan Village is a favorite among photographers in the autumn, especially during late October ~ early November when the leaves of the trees becomes vivid colors. There are three observation decks for viewing or taking pictures of Tachuan Village by the road.

By Bus: At Huangshan North Railway Station, there is passenger terminal - Huangshan Tourism Passenger Transport Hub operating daily bus to Hongcun Village. All buses to Hongcun take a stop at Xidi Village. The whole bus journey is about 89km (55 miles) and takes about 2 hours. During your bus journey, you will pass several villages like Mukeng Village and Tachuan Village, and see some traditional Huizhou buildings from the window.

Hongcun Village to Yellow Mountain: Yellow Mountain is a must for all travelers. Hongcun Village is about 50km away from Yellow Mountain. After your Hongcun Village visit, it’s quite easy to take a bus to Tangkou Town at the foot of Yellow Mountain. During 07:00 ~ 16:00, there is 1 bus departing to Tangkou in every 1 hour usually. The journey covers about 35km and takes about 45 minutes. There are frequent park buses to Yungu Temple (云谷寺) and Mercy Light Pavilion (慈光阁) where the cable car or steps to ascend Yellow Mountain begin from Tangkou in a flexible departure .

Hongcun Village to Shexian: Shexian (歙县) is the historic seat of old Huizhou, can be visited as a day trip from Hongcun Village. It is about 80km (1.5 hours’ driving) away from Hongcun. Since there are no direct buses to Shexian, independent travelers need to go to Tunxi or Huangshan North Railway Station first and then transfer to Shexian. Great attractions in Shexian include Tangyue Memorial Arches, Bao’s Garden, Xinan River, etc. Besides, there are several ancient towns as well around Shexian, like Chengkan, Tangmo and Xucun and so on. They are not as famous as Hongcun and Xidi, but much more peaceful.
