Harbin, the capital city of Heilongjiang Province located at the northeastern part of China, has a high geographic latitude. The average monthly temperature of Harbin over the year ranges from -25℃ (-13℉) to 29℃ (84.2℉). Over the course of a year, the average temperature at the daytime is about 11℃ (51.8℉), and at the nighttime is about 0℃ (32℉). The hottest months in a year are June, July and August, during which the temperature is about 20℃ (68℉). In other time, Harbin always sees lower temperatures. The temperature here is relatively colder than other places in China, and it is thus called 'Ice City'. The coldest time in a year is from November to March, with the temperature range from -25℃ (-13℉) to 3℃ (37.4℉).

Harbin Winter Temperature
The winter in Harbin is generally from November to March, which is not the same as the general way of dividing 4 seasons in China(Generally in China, winter is from December to February). Winter in Harbin is long and cold, with the lowest temperature in a year at about -30℃(-22℉). The lowest temperature in history was even -37.7℃ (-35.86℉) in January of a year. During winter, the average monthly temperature is from -25℃ (-13℉) to 3℃ (37.4℉).
In winter, it is advised to wear ski suit or down jacket as your overcoat. You also need to wear thermal underwear, but it is not advised to wear too tight, or you can easily get cold because of outdoor activities. You should wear thick sockets and cold-proof shoes with thick sole. Remember to bring several pairs of insoles for you, or your sweat may make your feet cold. You should also wear the glove with 5 fingers, so you could easily do anything. The wind-proof cap and wind-proof scarf can also be needed for you.

How to Plan a Harbin Tour
