In the morning, drive for around 1.5 hours from my house to Huanglongxi Ancient Town with my family.

Upon your arrival, we need to find a parking lot. There are many parking lots near Huanglongxi Ancient Town. The parking fee should be the same which is RMB20 per car without time limitation.

Walking from the Parking lot to Huanglongxi Ancient Town, it will only take 5-10 minutes based on where you park your car. The weather is very good and just perfect to travel to this water town.

Upon your arrival, you will first be surprised by the crowds. During the summer time, this is indeed very normal because this place is very cool even it is very hot in the downtown. So if you don’t want to be swallowed by the crowds, you’d better choose other dates.

Besides that, food is always a highlight during your trip to a new place. With every step, you will see different kind of snacks and food. A piece of noodles is also called longevity noodles, long-lasting noodles and so on. It is a famous traditional snack in the ancient town of Huanglongxi in Chengdu, Sichuan during the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. The land is fertile and watery, and it is rich in wheat. When celebrating weddings, the people of Huanglongxi would use wheat flour to make a piece of noodles. Almost every household would make a piece of noodles. In ancient times, there were no machines and they were usually made by hand.

Sesame cake is a small folk cake in Huanglongxi. According to the county chronicles, it was used as a local famous spot to offer to the palace in ancient times, and it is now the only small famous and mass-produced characteristic product in Huanglongxi. It has rich and profound historical background and cultural connotation, and the taste is sweet, delicate and soft. As a famous brand of Huanglongxi, it has won many awards.

Huang La Ding is one of the most famous snacks in Huanglongxi. Huang La Ding is a wild river fresh from Jinjiang and Luxi rivers. The meat is delicate and has no smell. There are two ways to eat it. One is to enhance the flavor with the local pepper and red pepper from Huanglongxi, and add coriander to make the soup bright red, spicy and fragrant. The second is to cook with lard, water, and salt, without too many condiments, to maintain the original flavor, and cook until the soup becomes white.

The stone-ground bean curd in Huanglongxi cuisine is also known as pearl bean curd, which is famous for its white color and delicate taste.
