Living in Chengdu, we are privileged to have easy access to the charming cities of Sichuan, and one such gem is the Brother City – Chongqing. Known as the "Mountain City" and the "Foggy City," Chongqing is a breathtaking and popular tourist destination. During the last National Day holiday, I embarked on a short adventure to explore this mesmerizing place, indulging in its cityscapes and savoring the diverse culinary delights it has to offer.

The journey from Chengdu to Chongqing is both convenient and swift, with bullet trains whisking you between the two cities in a mere 1.5 hours. However, during the National Day Holidays, securing tickets can be a challenge due to the high demand. Fortunately, I had planned ahead and booked mine, allowing me to reunite with a dear friend who resides in Chongqing.

After a warm welcome from my friend, we strolled through Beicang, a quaint alley adorned with charming stores selling exquisite handicrafts and other unique treasures. The alley also boasts some delightful restaurants, where we enjoyed a scrumptious lunch that introduced us to the city's culinary diversity.

Our next destination was Jiefangbei, also known as the People's Liberation Monument, a symbol of Chongqing's heritage. The square was abuzz with people capturing precious memories through photographs, which only added to the vibrant atmosphere. Eager to delve deeper into Chongqing's culinary delights, we explored a local street to savor a variety of delectable snacks. Chongqing is renowned for its mouthwatering street food, and we were so engrossed in our culinary adventure that we hardly had time to take pictures. Our next stop was the famous Hongya Cave, but along the way, we couldn't resist pausing at a building adorned with an enchanting display of cats.

Upon reaching Hongya Cave, we were greeted by a throng of fellow travelers. Descending from Dai's Alley took some time, but it was worth the wait. As evening descended and the lights illuminated the cave, its beauty left us spellbound. We took countless photographs, capturing the magical night view of the Yangtze River.

One of the most unforgettable moments of our Chongqing visit was when we had to take an elevator inside a towering building to reach our next stop. It was as if the square was suspended in mid-air on the 14th floor of the building! Walking on the bridge at that height was both thrilling and terrifying, as the unique topography of Chongqing created a mind-boggling 8D cityscape. The city's ingenious use of space and architecture left us in awe.

I left with a heart full of memories and an enduring desire to return to this captivating city.
