Sampling Itinerary Day by Day
- Day 1 Dunhuang Arrival – Mogao Grottoes – Echoing Sand Mountains (L, D)
Your tour guide will pick you up in your hotel, then drive to visit the Mogao Grottoes. Mogao Grottoes, also named as Thousands Buddha Caves, is famed as the "Louvre of East", which is outstanding for its exquisite mural paintings and statues. There are about 40 common caves opened to the public. In the tourist area, you will be divided into groups by different tour guides who will accompany you to visit 7-8 caves among them with great introduction. After that, if you want to visit more other caves, you can do it by yourselves or follow other tour guides. Besides, there are 10 special caves (with extra fees) available for your extensional visiting.
After sightseeing, start your Dunhuang hiking tour from Mogao Grottoes to the Echoing Sand Mountains. You will kike 15km(5hrs).
After arrival at Echoing Sand Mountains, relax yourself and enjoy the amazing sunset. Camping for overnight.

- Day 2 Enchoing Sand Moutains – Crescent Lake (B, L, D)
After breakfast, enjoy the spectacular sunrise of the desert. Then start your hiking from Echoing Sand Mountains to the Crescent Lake. You will hike about 8km (4hrs). Surrounded by sand mountains from four directions, the Crescent Lake is a beautiful oasis with some well decorated traditional Chinese architecture, some trees and flowers and a lake that has never dried up.
After sightseeing, go on hiking to the camping center. In the night, you will have a camp-fire party. Camping for overnight.

- Day 3 Crescent Lake – Dunhuang City (B, L, D)
Get up early, and enjoy the sunrise while having breakfast. Then, hike from Crescent Lake to Heishanzui.
After lunch, drive back to Dunhuang City.

- Day 4 Dunhuang Departure ( B )
Today is free for you until your tour guide see you off at the airport/train station.
