Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport Terminals

Currently, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport has two terminals in operation – Terminal 2 (T2) and Terminal 3 (T3). Terminal 1 has already been closed for interior renovation. The driving distance between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 is are about 12 kilometers and there are three ways for you to choose when travelling between the two terminals:

1. take a free shuttle bus for around 30 minutes.

2. take rail transit line 10 for 13 minutes.

3. take a 15-CNK airport express K01 for 40 minutes.

Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 Airlines

Terminal 2 simply serves domestic airlines including Spring Airlines (9C), Air Guilin (GT), Qingdao Airlines (QW), Fuzhou Airlines (FU), Sichuan Airlines (3U), Donghai Airlines (DZ) and GX Airlines 9 (GX), etc. while Terminal 3 serves international airlines including Thai Lion Air (SL), Hainan Airlines (HU), Qatar (QR), Spring Airlines (9C), China Southern (CZ), Chongqing Airlines (OQ), China Eastern (MU), Singapore Airlines (SQ), Bangkok Airways (PG), etc. and a few domestic routes including China Southern (CZ), Chongqing Airlines (OQ), Hainan Airlines (HU), Chengdu Airlines (EU), Shanghai Airlines (FM) and Shenzhen Airlines (ZH), etc.

How to Travel Between T2 and T3

For visitors who choose a nonstop flight, normally you will arrive at T3 upon landing. For visitors on flights that need to transfer in some other cities in China from Singapore and then fly to Chongqing, T2 will probably be your final destination. The transportation means that you can pick are different at the two terminals. But don't be worried, for there is some transportation information about how to get to the downtown city and also travel between the two terminals.

● Shuttle Buses Connecting Terminals for Free:

Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport provides free shuttle buses between T2 and T3 with a travelled distance of 12 km every 30 minutes from 5:00 to 24:00. It only takes you around 25 to 30 minutes to travel from T3 to T2 and vice versa depending on what transportation you choose.

T3 to T2: T3 (at Gate 9 on the first floor)→ Airport Security→ Xingfujiayuan Community Block B (幸福佳苑B区)→ Jiangbei International Airport Company→ T2

T2 to T3: T2 (at Gate 4 or 9)→ T1 (closed)→ Jiangbei International Airport Company→ Xingfujiayuan Community Block B→ Airport Economic Building→ T3

● Rail Transit Line 10 (CNY 2 between T2 and T3, run for every 2 minutes):

If you land at T3, walk about 250 meters and you will reach Jiangbei Airport Terminal 3 railway station, entering from Gate 4 to take Lanhualu-Wangjiazhuang Line 10 to T2.

If you exit from T2, you should board at Jiangbei Airport Terminal 2 railway station, entering from Gate four to take Wangjiazhuang-Lanhualu Line 10 to T3.

Travel From Chongqing Jiangbei Airport to Chongqing Downtown

▲ By Rail Transit Line (service time may change in different seasons: 6:30-23:00):

The rail transit lines run for every 2 minutes, so it's very flexible for you to catch one very soon. It takes approximately 60 minutes for a total distance of 25 kilometers to travel from the airport to the downtown city.

▲ By Airport Expresses: (service time for reference: 5:30-21:00; CNY 15):

If you arrive early in the morning or by 21:00 at night, the airport express is a good choice for you. It's 1.5 hour's drive to take an airport express from Jiangbei Airport to Jiefangbei Business District. It should be noted that the airport expresses set out at fixed time with an interval of 30 minutes. Consequently, it's less convenient compared with transportation means.

If you don't want to take a subway while carrying your luggage around or wait until the fixed departure time of airport expresses, you can turn to a taxi. It's 50 minutes' drive for 23 kilometers to Jiefangbei CBD.

Convenient Currency Exchange

For convenience of international travelers, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport has set up a Automatic Currency Exchanging Machine at T3 supported by Bank of China. Once travlers of flights of Intl/HKG/MFM/TWN come out of arrival gates, it's easy to find the exchange machine located not far from Gate 9 on the first floor. It's available to exchange most common currencies including USD, EUR, SGD, GBP, JPY, KRW, THB,etc. in cash and with cards. It's even more wonderful that it accepts small currency exchange.

The Currency Exchange Counter in front of 3B Check-in counter provides serivices as well, only that customers need to change at least $200 (it can be converted equivalently into other currencies). Cards, e-money on Wechat or Ali-pay and cash are all acceptable.

Worth-remembering Check-in Time

In case of missing your planes, you should check in by 45 minutes before flight departure to get all your boarding materials, security check and your luggage well-prepared for domestic flights. However, for international/HKG/MFM/TWN flight travelers, you'd better arrive at the airpot earlier since the check-in counter servicecloses by 45 to 60 minutes before departure.

Since May 20, 2024, adult passengers of international Cathay Pacific Airlines' flights setting off from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport can check in online through Cathay Pacific official website, application or WeChat Official Account, and pass through customs, border inspection, security check with your valid identity certificate and your electronic boarding pass (QR code).
