Day 1 Chongqing Arrival

Welcome to the magical 8-Dimensional Chongqing! Upon your arrival, your local guide and driver will meet you at the arrival hall of the airport or railway station, and then escort you to the hotel at the city downtown and help you check in. The rest of the day is on your own to discover this city!

Arrival Ideas: At present, there are many international and domestic flights to Chongqing. Besides, you can take a bullet train from Chengdu (1-2 hrs), Xian (5-6 hrs), Kunming (4.5-6 hrs), Guiyang (2-3 hrs), Wuhan (5-7 hrs), Changsha (5.5 hrs), etc.

Free Time Ideas: Have a leisure stroll at Changjiahui on Nanbin Road, which is praised as “The Bund of Chongqing” with a great view of Chongqing skyline and the iconic Raffles City from the opposite bank. The night view from 20:00 is also attractive!

Day 2 Chongqing (B, L)

Good morning! After breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel to start your Chongqing City discovery.

First, drive up to Nanshan Tree Viewing Platform on Nanshan Mountain. It is the most classic location to admire Chongqing skyline and overlook the Yuzhong Peninsula embraced by the Yangtze River.

Next, explore the mountain leaning Longmenhao Old Street of 6 layers, which preserves around 200 precious buildings for Chongqing history seeking. Wander from the upper gate down along the alleys to imagine the past decades and take contrasting photos of the present vibrant urban Chongqing.

After the visit, your guide and driver will escort you to the hotel at Xiannvshan Town in Wulong County (3-3.5 hours' drive) and help you check in!

Optional Activities (extra payment): 1. go up to the open-air WFC Huixianlou Observation Deck of 339 meters high to appreciate the spectacular 360° Chongqing cityscape; 2. Watch “Impression Wulong” night show with real landscape background of Wulong and folk culture charm of Sichuan & Chongqing regions. It is directed by Zhang Yimou, a world-class movie director and the chief director of the opening and closing ceremonies of both Olympic Games 2008 and Winter Olympics 2022 in Beijing.

Day 4 Wulong Karst Geology Park - Chongqing (B, L)

After breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel for today's exploration of Wulong Karst National Geological Park. Wulong Karst is well known for its giant dolines (sinkholes), natural bridges and caves, inscribed as a part of South China Karst UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007. Besides, it is the shooting location of the globally famous movie “Transformers IV”.

First, hop on a sightseeing bus from Wulong Xiannvshan Tourist Center to the largest natural bridge cluster in Asia - Three Natural Bridges, where you can appreciate exceptionally high natural bridges with long stretches of deep unroofed caves. Take the sightseeing elevator down to the valley bottom to marvel at the magnificent Karst Mountains, miraculous caves, beautiful waterfalls. Enjoy your hiking passing Tianlong Bridge, Tianfu Official Post (shooting location of Zhang Yimou’s movie “The City of Golden Armor”), Qinglong Bridge and Heilong Bridge.

Then, take a sightseeing bus to Longshuixia Gap, a gap-style gorge and the important part of Wulong Karst. In this natural oxygen bar, enjoy 2 kilometers’ fun walking deep to the “core of earth” passing by One Line Sky, Dragon Pool Minoring the Moon, etc. and witness the steep cliffs on both sides, verdant original forests in the valley and mysterious waterfalls.

After the visit, be transferred back to Chongqing downtown.

Day 3 Chongqing - Dazu Rock Carvings - Chongqing (B, L)

Morning! After breakfast, your guide and driver will meet you at your hotel for a side trip to Dazu Rock Carvings in Chongqing's northwest suburb (about 2 hours’ drive). It has been listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 1999 for its historical significance, rich themes, and delicate carvings, which reflects the social daily life as well as the harmonious coexistence of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. Today, you’ll explore the top two clusters: Baodingshan Rock Carvings and Beishan Rock Carvings.

Start at Baodingshan Scenic Area, the best highlight of Dazu Rock Carvings. First, take the sightseeing bus to Dafowan (Giant Buddha Bay) to admire the most representative works of Baodingshan. Along the trail, pass by Wansui Tower annd Xiaofowan to Shengshou Temple. Here, you’ll appreciate antique buildings and a stunning view of the Giant Buddha Bay. Then, visit Dazu Rock Carvings Museum to understand basic characteristics of Dazu Rock Carvings and the whole thread of world cave temple art.

Next, visit Beishan Scenic Area, smaller but earlier, and irreplaceable for visitors keen of history of China’s grottoes. As locals say, “The professionals know the ropes from Beishan Rock Carvings”. Explore Fowan (Buddha Bay) where to see the “Weijunjing Stele”, a Tang Dynasty stone tablet meticulously records all crucial moments from the beginning to the development of Dazu Rock Carvings. You won’t miss representative statues of the earliest constructions in the style of glorious Tang Dynasty, including Niche No. 5, the Vaisravana Devaraja, as well as diverse exquisite statues of Guanyin, such as Avalokitesvara with a Rosary in Niche No. 125, and the most extensive and artistically crafted Niche No. 136 - “Wheel of the Sutra Collection,” which significantly projects the folk belief attribute of Beishan Grottoes. The overall visit to Beishan lasts 1-1.5 hours. With enough time and physical strength, climb up to worship the twin Buddhas under the Duobao Pagoda (15-20 minutes of mountain road walk).

After the visit, your guide and drive will send you to your hotel in Chongqing downtown and visit the city landmark - Hongya Cave where 11 layers of traditional wood tilted houses overlapping against the mountain create an antique flavor and a stunning sight with neons at night. Enjoy your leisure walk there and take some beautiful photos!

Day 5 Chongqing & Departure (B, L)

Good morning! After breakfast, your guide and driver will greet you at your hotel to continue your Chongqing discovery.

First, head to the Three Gorges Museum, boasting an impressive collection of over 280,000 pieces of precious historical relics. This museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the Yangtze River, formation of the Three Gorges, and Chongqing City, from 3,000 years ago, to its war defense in the 20th century, and to nowadays as one of the four prosperous municipalities in China.

Step outside to appreciate the People’s Assembly Hall, renowned for its elegant classical façade and listed in the History of Architecture compiled in London in 1987!

Then, go to experience Chongqing Light Rail Line 2 from Huanghuayuan to Liziba Station (15 minutes’ ride) with the beautiful cityscape of streets, bridges, flyovers, and Jialing River. Get off at Liziba to watch the unbelievable view of a train traveling through a 19-floor building, a successful demonstration of Chongqing’s urban design.

Finally, visit the over 1,000-year-old Ciqikou Old Town (means porcelains), where to appreciate the traditional Chongqing dwellings, stone paths, the port and temples. Have a joyful time-traveling stroll at this “Little Chongqing”, discover local handicrafts, and watch people prepare flavored snacks on-site.

After the visit, your guide and driver will escort you to the airport or railway station for departure from Chongqing. Tour ends!
