Lanzhou to Jiayuguan Train Schedules, Tickets, Fares and Stations

Named after the fortress of the Great Wall in the west end, Jiayuguan is popular scenic city in the northwest of China, and The Lanzhou Xinjiang High Speed Railway makes it fast and convenient to travel the Capital city of Gansu Province, Lanzhou together with Jiayuguan not far away. Most people choose to make a short layover in Jiayuguan from Lanzhou, Zhangye and then continue exploration of Dunhuang and more destinations on the ancient “Silk Road” to feel different landscape, culture and history of China.

There are over 30 trains bounding for Jiayuguan from Lanzhou, including about 12 high speed D trains. The first bullet train leaves around 6 am and the last one departs at 5 pm from Lanzhou West Railway Station to Jiayuguan South Railway Station, and the duration for the high speed bullet train is usually about 5.5h to 6h. Besides bullet trains, there are also normal trains (Z, T, K Trains) running from Lanzhou Railway Station to Jiayuguan Station, and the duration is about 7h to10h. The first normal train operates around 4 am and the last train leaves at 10 pm. Among all the normal trains, the Z train is the fastest.

Lanzhou Jiayuguan High Speed Train Route

With a total length of 727km, The Lanzhou Jiayuguan High Speed Rail starts from Lanzhou West Railway Station (兰州西站), runs northwestward, passes by Qinghai Province and finally reach Jiayuguan South Railway Station (嘉峪关南站). Along the journey, you will stop at Xining (西宁),Zhangye West (张掖西), Jiuquan South(酒泉南) , from these of which you can travel and transfer to more Chinese destinations conveniently.

Lanzhou West Railway Station (兰州西站)

Location: 197 Xijin West Road, Qilihe District, Lanzhou City (兰州市七里河区西津西路197号)

Located in the west of Lanzhou city, Lanzhou West Railway Station is about 9km to the city center and 12km to Lanzhou Railway Station with a metro station around it. It is the terminal station of Lanzhou-Xinjiang High Speed Rail and operates trains to Xining, Jiayuguan, Zhangye, Dunhuang, Urumchi, etc.

Jiayuguan South Railway Station (嘉峪关南站)

Location: 嘉峪关市镜铁区文殊镇雄关大道 Xiongguan Avenue, Manshu town, Jingtie District, Jiayuguan

Located in the southern outskirt of Jiayuguan, Jiayuguan South Railway Station has been put into use since 2014. It only operates bullet trains to some major cities and scenic cities in western China such as Lanzhou, Xian, Dunhuang, Zhangye, etc. It now mainly serves Lanzhou-Xinjiang Railway.

Class of Ticket

There are three kinds of tickets are provided on high speed train from Lanzhou to Jiayuguan, Business Class Seat, First Class Seat and Second Class Seat. Second Class Seat is the most budget level you will share a row space with other passengers. And the First Class of Seat is more comfortable and quiet for those who prefer a good rest on the way. Book, Collect, Alter and Cancel

Foreign tourists can book train ticket online or ask help from ticket agency, or buy the tickets physically at the train station with your valid passport. One thing you should remember is to book the ticket as early as possible, especially in peak tourist seasons. After collecting the tickets, please read carefully about the train number, departure date and station to make sure you won’t miss the train. Baggage Allowance

China train travel with luggage is much easier than taking flight, for you don’t need to check luggage separately.
