How to Get from Beijing to Zhengzhou: By Flight or Train?

Option 1: Get from Beijing to Zhengzhou by Flight

Transfer from Zhengzhou Airport to Nearby Attractions/Destinations

After arrival in Zhengzhou Airport, you can transfer to Zhengzhou East Railway Station to take high speed train to Luoyang, Jiaozuo, Kaifeng and other cities in Henan, or take fast intercity train to Zhengzhou Railway Station to take a bus to Shaolin Temple from nearby bus station, or take a taxi, airport shuttle bus to downtown area directly.

Train travel has become increasingly popular in China in recent years. Every day, Beijing sends up to 100 trains to Zhengzhou, including super-fast high speed trains and normal trains.

Beijing to Zhengzhou by High Speed Train

● Frequency: about 70 trains per day

● From & To: Beijing West Railway Station 北京西站 → Zhengzhou East Railway Station 郑州东站

● Running Speed: 300 km/h -350 km/h (Fuxing Train)

Each day, there are around 70 high speed bullet trains departing from Beijing West Railway Station in Beijing to Zhengzhou East Railway Station in Zhengzhou. The shortest train ride takes just 2.5 hours. The trains are scheduled between 06:30 and 20:30, and all arrives within the same day. So you have plenty of choice.

Transfer Advice: From Zhengzhou East Railway Station, you can take fast intercity train to Zhengzhou Airport (about 17 minutes) and high speed train to Luoyang Longmen Railway Station (about 40-50 minutes). Travel with China Discovery, you can enjoy private pick-up service from the airport and be escorted to Shaolin Temple directly within 2 hours’ driving.

Beijing West Railway Station 北京西站

Zhengzhou East Railway Station 郑州东站

Distance: about 15 km/30 minutes’ driving to the downtown area; about 34 km/40 minutes’ driving to Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport; about 150 km/2 hours’ driving to Luoyang Longmen Grottoes; about 100 km/2.5 hours’ driving to Shaolin Temple; 100 km/1.5 hours’ driving to Yuntai Mountain in Jiaozuo

Beijing to Zhengzhou by Normal Train

● Train Time: about 6 hours - 11 hours

● Frequency: about 30 trains per day

● From & To: Beijing West Railway Station 北京西站/Beijing Railway Station 北京站 → Zhengzhou Railway Station 郑州站

● Running Speed: 120 km/h

Meanwhile, there are about 30 normal trains running from Beijing to Zhengzhou per day. The train time is 2 times longer than the high speed train. Some trains arrive on the same day and a few are overnight trains getting to Zhengzhou the next morning. Besides the different of speed, duration and ticket, facilities on the normal train are simple and basic, not as advanced and comfortable on the high speed train. Thus, the normal train is not recommended for travelers.

Beijing Railway Station 北京站

Distance: about 4 km/15 minutes’ driving to the downtown area; 37 km/40-50 minutes’ driving to Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport; only 2 km/10 minutes’ driving to Zhengzhou Long-distance Bus Center Station(郑州长途汽车中心站); about 140 km/2 hours’ driving to Luoyang Longmen Grottoes; nearly 100 km/2 hours’ ride to Shaolin Temple; 94 km/1 hour 20 minutes’ driving to Yuntai Mountain (Jiaozuo).

Transfer Tips: Zhengzhou Railway Station is very close to Zhengzhou Long-distance Bus Center Station (郑州长途汽车中心站), which dispatches direct bus to Shaolin Temple (about 2.5 hours). Also, you can take intercity train from Zhengzhou Railway Station to Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport (about 30 minutes); Zhengzhou East Railway Station (about 15 minutes), Kaifeng (about 20 minutes) and Jiaozuo (about 40 minutes).
