Xian Train Stations | Xian North Railway Station
Located in central China, Xian is connected with the major cities in different directions of China by railways. There are three main railway stations operated in Xian, including Xian North Railway Station, Xian Railway Station and Xian South Railway Station. Among the three railway stations, Xian North Railway Station is the only station operating high speed trains (Fuxing trains included) and it only operates high speed train. It operates high speed trains to different cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guzhong, Chengdu, Chongqing, etc. Xian Railway Station operates other normal trains (general trains, non-stop express and fast trains) only, and Xian South Railway Station just operates some fast trains (K-trains).
Xian North Railway Station (西安北站)
Location: Yuansuo Road, Weiyang District, Xian City (陕西省西安市未央区元朔路).
Distance: 20km to downtown area (about 50 minutes’ driving), 50km to Terracotta Warriors and Horses (about 1 hour’s driving), 20km to Muslim Quarter (about 1 hour’s driving), 15km to the Ancient City Wall (about 40 minutes’ driving), 30km to Xian Xianyang International Airport (about 40 minutes’ driving)
Xian North Railway Station, also called Xianbei Railway Station or Xian North for short, is the only high speed railway station in Xian. It is also one of the largest railway stations in China which covers an area of 533,000 square meters. Since Xian is located in central China, Xian North Railway Station always acts as the most important transportation hubs of high speed rail network.

Xian North Railway Station has two squares (South Square and North Square), four floors, four entrances and several train tickets.
First Floor (1 F): The first floor is the departure floor, there are two entrances on its south and north sides which connect with the two squares directly. Beside the entrances, there are ticket offices where you can collect (or buy, cancel and alter) your tickets. There are available Self-service Ticket Machines, but travelers without Chinese ID card have to deal with your tickets in the ticket windows. With your intraday ticket, you can cross the entrances to the waiting hall. Entering the waiting hall, you can find an electronic board which displays the train information in both Chinese and English. Read the information to find your right checking gate. There are only two checking gates on the first floor, A1 near the south entrance and A34 near the north entrance. Other checking gates are on the second floor. There are available escalator and barrier-free elevators to the second floor. All the trains depart from the first floor and you will get down to the first floor after passing throung the check gates on the second floor. Facilities like markets, VIP Lounge, Drinking Fountain, and Accessible Toilets are all available.
Second Floor (2F): The second floor is the main area of waiting hall. There are two other entrances on the east sides and west sides. If you take a taxi to Xian North Railway Station, the driver will always drop you off on one of the drop-off platforms on the second floor, just outside the entrances. Travelers can collect or book their tickets on the ticket offices beside the entrances and then get into the waiting hall on the second floor. According to the train information the board, travelers can easily find their checking gates and take a seat nearby. There are 66 checking gates on this floor, A2 ~ A33 on east and B1 ~ B34 on west. Apart from the necessary facilities, there is an Information Service Counter in the center of the floor. There are available Bossiness Seats Waiting Hall and VIP Waiting Hall (with maternal and child facilities). Besides, you can have some food in the fast-food restaurants on the second floor and the upper interlayer.
First Underground Floor (B1): After you get off the train, follow the sign to the exit. If you want to take a metro, you can take an escalator to the second underground floor.
Second Underground Floor (B2): The second underground floor is a subway station. If you get to the railway station by metro and plan to take a high speed train, you can pass through the south or north exit to the first floor.
Toilets: There are four toilets in the Waiting Hall, respectively beside 2-3 Checking Gate, 2-3B Checking Gate, 8-9A Checking Gate and 6-7B Checking Gate.
Dining: In the Waiting Hall, you can find restaurants, snack bars and cafes where you can have many some local dishes, in a bit higher price.
How to Get to/off Xian North Railway Station
Xian City Downtown and Xian North Railway Station Transportation
Xian’s downtown area is surrounded by Xian Ancient City Wall, includes Bell Tower, Drum Tower, Muslim Quarter, etc.
● By Subway: In fact, taking a subway is the fastest and most convenient way to transfer between Xian North Railway Station and the downtown area. ● By Taxi: If you have heavy luggage and want a more comfortable transportation, you could take a taxi which takes about 50 minutes to drive from the North Railway Station to the Bell Tower usually.

Terracotta Warriors and Horses to/from Xian North Railway Station
● By Taxi: The world-famed Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum is located in western Xian, and about 48km away from Xian North Railway Station. Taking taxi is the most convenient way to get there (within one hour).

Xian Xianyang Airport to/from Xian North Railway Station
● By Express Train: The Airport Express Train was put into operation in September, 2019. It makes it possible for passengers to transfer from T1, T2 and T3 of Xian Xianyang International Airport to Xian North Railway Station North Square within 50minsw, and the ticket is only RMB 16.
● By Shuttle Bus: There is a shuttle bus running from Xian Xianyang International Airport to Xian North Railway Station every 30 minutes. It usually takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes to transfer between them.
● By Taxi: Calling taxi will make your journey much easier, and it takes about 35 minutes if you are lucky to miss the rush hours.

Xian Railway Station (西安站)
Location: No. 44 Huancheng North Road, Xincheng District (西安市新城区环城北路44号), in the downtown area.
Distance: 37km to Terracotta Warriors and Horses (about 50 minutes’ driving), 5km to Muslim Quarter (about 20 minutes’ driving), 40km to Xian Xianyang International Airport (about 50 minutes’ driving).
Xian Railway Station is an old railway station with a history of over 80 years. It has a Tang’s style architecture with glazed tile roof and yellow glazed walls. At present, Xian Railway Station only operates normal trains (like K-trains, Z-trains and T-trains) to other cities, like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Tianjing, Lanzhou, Dunhuang, etc. The train to Lhasa from Shanghai and Guangzhou also take stop over at Xian Railway Station, so it is available to take a train from Xian to Lhasa via Qinghai Tibet Railway directly.
Xian South Railway Station (西安南站)
Location: No.222, Tielu Ercun, Huangjueping, Jiulongpo District(黄桷坪铁路二村龙吟路附近)
Distance: 30km to downtown area (about 1 hour’s driving), 60km to Terracotta Warriors and Horses (about 1 hour’s driving), 30km to Muslim Quarter (about 1 hour and 20 minutes driving), 30km to the Ancient City Wall (about 1 hour’s driving), 75km to Xian Xianyang International Airport (about 1.5 hours’ driving)
Xian South Railway Station is less frequently used than the other two railway stations and always acted as a stopover station. It operates 12 K-trains to some other cities, including Chongqing, Taiyuan, Yichang, Guiyang, etc.
