Tianjin Train Stations - Seven High Speed Railway Stations in Tianjin

There are more than 7 train stations in Tianjin. The major train stations, Tianjin Railway Station, Tianjin West Railway Station are located in the downtown area and the former one is in the city center. Both of them operate High speed bullet trains and normal trains to the mega cities such as Beijing and Shanghai and other provincial cities like Chengdu, Wuhan, Harbin, etc. Besides the two train stations, Tianjin North Railway Station is also at downtown area, 7km away from Tianjin Railway Station, which mainly serves the normal trains to the suburban area of Tianjin, such as Jizhou County where Huangyaguan Great Wall is located. In the southern outskirts lies Tianjin South Railway Station, and it is a high speed train station, mainly serves the trains to the cities in the southeast, like Shanghai.

70km away from Tianjin city, there are some other important railway stations in the east outskirts, near Tianjin Port, such as Binhai Railway Station, Binhai West Railway Station and Tanggu Station. All of them is accessible within 30km from Tianjin Port (about 1h by car). Among them, Binhai Railway Station is the terminal station of Beijing-Tianjin Railway, and Binhai West Railway Station is linked with Tianjin West Railway Station, and Tanggu Railway Station lies between Tianjin-Binhai Rail, which is an inter-city railway station.

▶ Where to Take High Speed Bullet Train to Beijing

With about 200 high speed bullet trains to Beijing every day, except for Tianjin North Railway Station, you can take a high speed bullet train to Beijing from any other train stations in Tianjin.

① If you depart from Tianjin City downtown area, getting from Tianjin Railway Station or Tianjin West Railway Station is the most convenient way reaching Beijing;

② If you would like to take a train after landing in Tianjin Airport, the nearest station is Tianjin Railway Station which is accessible by subway line 9 directly;

③ If you are leaving for Beijing from Tianjin Port, you can choose to take a high speed bullet train from Binhai Railway Station, Binhai West Railway Station and Tanggu Railway Station, all of which are much closer to the port than the railway stations in Tianjin City.

▶ Where to Take High Speed Bullet Train to Shanghai

There are over 23 high speed bullet trains to Shanghai every day. Most of the trains depart from Tianjin South Railway Station and Tianjin West Railway Station, and there still one or two high speed trains depart from Tianjin Railway Station and Binhai West Railway Station. If you are leaving for Tianjin Port, you might go to the nearest Binhai West Railway Station. If you would like to get to Shanghai from Tianjin downtown, you might go to Tianjin West Station or transfer by subway line 6 to Tianjin South Railway Station where more trains are scheduled to Shanghai.

▶ Where to Take High Speed Bullet Train to Xi'an

There are only about 6 high speed bullet trains departing from Tianjin to Xi'an, and you can only take trains from Tianjin Railway Station and Tianjin West Railway Station and get to Xi'an North Railway Station. Passengers disembarking from the Port need to make a transfer to the two stations, for they can not take a train to Xi'an directly from the 3 nearby train station around Tianjin Port.

• Distance: about 19km to Tianjin Binhai International Airport (25min by car); about 70km to Tianjin Port (1.5h by car); about 7km to Tianjin West Railway Station (20min by car); about 23km to Tianjin South Railway Station (55min by car)

Tianjin Railway Station (Tianjin East Railway Station) is located in the central urban area. It’s very convenient to transfer here to the major scenic spots in Tianjin or continue your adventure to Beijing. The Jinwan Square, Liberation Bridge and Italian Styled area are steps away and the central business area is within 1km from here. It is the most important train station in Tianjin, with 3 subway lines running underground it, also known as a transportation hub to Tianjin airport, as well as other train stations such as Tianjin South Railway Station, Tianjin West Railway Station. It mainly serves Beijing-Tianjin trains, Tianjin-Qinhuangdao trains and Tianjin-Shanhaiguan trains.

It delivers both normal trains and high speed bullet trains (D, G, C Trains). There are around 268 high speed trains and 290 normal trains heading to Beijing, Shanghai, Qinhuangdao, Qingdao, Chengdu, Changchun, Wuhan, Shijiazhuang, Harbin, etc.

The total area of Tianjin Railway Station is 185,000 square meters, with 10 platforms and 18 rail tracks. It can accommodate 6,000 people waiting for the train at the same time. There are 34 ticket vending machines and 13 ticket taking machines in the square. There are 44 buses departing from Tianjin Railway Station Hub, which cover 6 districts in the city, Xiqing District, Dongli District, Beichen District, Jinnan District and other suburban areas, as well as Ninghe County and Binhai New Area.

▶ 1F: The ground floor is the central entrance hall. Passengers can enter the Tianjin Railway Station from the south and north entrance halls.

▶ B1: It is a public transportation floor and an underground entrance hall. Passenger can enter or exit from the east and west sides of this hall. There are 11 entrances and exits with more than 6000 square meters of square, and it is the floor that you can grab a taxi.

How to Get to Tianjin Railway Station

Tianjin Railway Station is located in the city center. You can easily get there by bus or subway. The bus station is right next to the south exit 4 at the front square.

How to Transfer Between Tianjin Railway Station and Tianjin Airport

Linked by subway line 2, you can transfer from Tianjin Airport to Tianjin Railway Station directly within about 30min, and the subway train runs from 6:00am to 23:00pm. Besides the subway, you can also take an airport shuttle bus from Tianjin Tongsha Bus Station (天津通莎客运站) to Tianjin Airport. The Bus station is at the back square, next to the north exit of the station.

Transfer Between Tianjin Railway Station and Tianjin Port (Tianjin Cruise Port)

You can take subway line 9 (6:00-22:30) from the Railway Station and get off at Exit A3 of Citizen Square Station (市民广场 Pinyin: shì mín guǎng chǎng). After getting out of the subway station, you may need walk around 400m passing by a petrol station along Xincheng West Road (新城西路) and the 513 bus station is right next to the west gate of Citizen Square. Take Bus 513 (6:00-18:00) there and get off at Dongjiang Cruise Home Port (东疆邮轮母港 Pinyin: dōng jiāng yóu lún mǔ gǎng), which is also the last stop of Bus 513. Tianjin West Railway Station

• Chinese: 天津西站 (Pinyin: tiān jīn xī zhàn)

• Location: #1, Xizhan Front Street, Hongqiao District, Tianjin City (天津市红桥区西站前街1号)

• Distance: about 26km to Tianjin Binhai International Airport (45min by car); about 80km to Tianjin Port (1.5h by car); about 7km to Tianjin Railway Station (20min by car); about 22km to Tianjin South Railway Station (40min by car).

Located in the downtown area, Tianjin West Railway Station is the second largest Railway Station in Tianjin, serving both high speed bullet trains and normal trains. Connected with subway line 1, it’s easily accessible to Tianjin Railway Station and Tianjin South Railway Station. It mainly operates Beijing-Tianjin Trains, Beijing-Shanghai Trains, Tianjin-Baoding Trains, Tianjin-Qinhuangdao Trains, Tianjin-Shanghai Trains.

It serves over 160 trains every day, including over 110 high speed bullet trains, bounding for Beijing, Shanghai, Qinhuangdao, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Hefei, Jinan, Shenyang, Changsha, Harbin, Shijiazhuang, Zhengzhou, etc.

Layout & Facilities

Tianjin West Railway Station has two floors above ground and three floors below ground. The total area of the station is 180,000 square meters, and it can hold about 5,000 passengers at the same time.

There are ticket offices on the east side of the waiting hall of the station, as well as some on the southeast side of the waiting hall; there are seven restrooms and drinking-water places on the west and east side of the waiting hall; Between the B5 and B6 / B7 and B8/ B15 and B16 ticket checkpoints, there are mobile phone charging places. ATM is installed in the ticket office area, departures concourse, and B1.

Tianjin West Railway Station has two squares, namely north square and south square, of which South Square is mainly a landscape park and commercial zone, while North Square is a traffic hub with different long distance bus terminals, city bus stops, and parking lots.

How to Transfer Between Tianjin West Railway Station and Tianjin Airport

You can get on the airport shuttle bus from bus station at the south square of Tianjin West Railway Station. The bus runs from 9:15am to 17:15pm, departing in every 30min and it takes about 1 hour from Tianjin West Railway Station to the airport. You can also get from the west railway station by subway line 1 and reach Xinanjiao (西南角) and transfer to subway line 2 to Tianjin Binhai International Airport (天津滨海国际机场). The whole duration by subway is around 50min.

How to Transfer Between Tianjin West Railway Station and Tianjin Port (Tianjin Cruise Port)

Tianjin Port is about 80km away (about 2h by car) from Tianjin West Railway station. Besides getting there by car, you can also take subway line 1 at the railway station and transfer to subway line 2 at West South Corner Station (西南角 Pinyin: xī nán jiǎo), then taking subway line 2 to Tianjin Station (天津站 Pinyin:) and transfer to Line 9 and get off at Citizen Square (市民广场 Pinyin: shì mín guǎng chǎng). After getting out from the subway station, you need to walk around 400m to take Bus 513 and finally get off the bus at Dongjiang Cruise Home Port (东疆邮轮母港 Pinyin: dōng jiāng yóu lún mǔ gǎng). Tianjin South Railway Station

Tianjin South Railway Station is a high-speed bullet train station, and its scale is much smaller than Tianjin Railway Station and Tianjin West Railway Station, miles away from the downtown area.

Every day, it delivers over 100 high speed bullet trains to other cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Qingdao, Fuzhou, Yantai, Nanjing,etc. Among them, most of the trains head to Beijing and Shanghai.

Layout & Facilities

Built as part of Tianjin Grand Bridge, Tianjin South Railway Station has 4 platforms, of which Platform 1 and 2 are used for trains arrived here and platform 3 and 4 are for trains to Jinan, Qingdao, and Shanghai. Trains heading to this station will not stop at Tianjin West Railway Station. The first floor of Tianjin South Railway Station is the waiting hall, with 128 seats, and the second floor is the platforms. Because there is no direct connection between the subway station of Tianjin South Railway Station and Tianjin South Railway Station itself, passengers need to walk around the surrounding roads to get from one to the other within 10min.

You can take subway line 3 from Tianjin South Railway Station (天津南站) to Tianjin Railway Station (天津站) and then transfer to subway line 9 and get off at Citizen Square (市民广场 Pinyin: shì mín guǎng chǎng). Binhai Railway Station

• Chinese: 滨海站 (Pinyin: bīn hǎi zhàn)

• Location:  XinGang Rd, Binhai New District, Tianjin City (天津市滨海新区新港路)

• Distance: about 43km to Tianjin Binhai International Airport (50min by car); about 26km to Tianjin Port (35min by car); about 47km to Tianjin Railway Station (55min by car); about 57km to Tianjin West Railway Station (1h by car).

Built in 2015, Binhai Railway Station (滨海站 Pinyin: bīn hǎi zhàn), also known as Yujiabao Railway Station (于家堡站 Pinyin: yú jiā bǎo zhàn) is the nearest station to Tianjin Port, a new railway station serving only the high speed bullet trains, and it is the last station of Beijing-Tianjin Railway, and this station is much closer to Tianjin Port, compared with the other main stations in Tianjin city. Passengers can get to the train station after disembarking from Tianjin port and go directly to Beijing, and the whole duration by train is only about 0.5h.

It mainly serves Beijing-Tianjin Trains, Beijing-Shanghai Trains, Beijing-Shanghai trains, Beijing-Qinhuangdao trains.

You can always take the inter-city train from here to Tianjin Railway Station, the city center, within half an hour.

Binhai Railway Station Transportation Hub is designed as three-storey underground and one-storey ground. It consists of five parts:monitor center, bus stations, taxi parking lot, public parking lot, subway stations for line B1, Z1 and Z4 which will be built here in the future. The Transportation hub in the underground level 1 is mainly composed of station hall, public transfer hall, taxi parking lot and some equipment rooms. Inter-city railway, subway and taxi can be found on the same underground level. In addition, there are inter-city railway ticket vending machines, waiting hall and departure platforms on the underground level 1 too.

▶ B2: It is mainly platform floor of subway B1 and Z4 lines, with public area of platform, escalators and equipment rooms.

▶ B3: It is mainly for subway line Z1, and more than 10 bus terminals and office buildings are set up there too.

How to Get to Binhai Railway Station

You can always get to Binhai Railway Station from the city center, Tianjin Station, by train. The high speed inter-city train only takes about half an hour from Tianjin to Binhai and about 1h from Binhai to Beijing. How to Transfer Between Binhai Railway Station and Tianjin Port (Tianjin Cruise Port)

You can always take a taxi to Tianjin Port (Tianjin International Cruise Home Port 天津国际邮轮母港), which takes about 40min. Besides taxi, you can get there by bus with about 1 hour and there is direct Bus 513 departing outside the West Entrance of Binhai High Speed Railway Station (高铁滨海站 Pinyin: gāo tiě bīn hǎi zhàn) to Tianjin Port, and the last bus stop is where you should get off to the port.

How to Transfer Between Binhai Railway Station and Tianjin Airport

There is no direct airport shuttle bus to Binhai Railway Station. You can take a taxi from Binhai Railway Station to Citizen Square Station (市民广场站) of subway line 9, and then get on the subway train to Tianjin Railway Station and transfer to subway line 2 and finally get to Tianjin Airport. The duration will be about 2.5 hours.

Tianjin North Railway Station

Located in the downtown area and linked by subway line 3, it mainly serves some inter-city trains to its suburban area, such as Baodi (7 times a day from 7am to 7pm) and Jizhou (4 times a day from 1pm to 7pm), and Jizhou is where the only Great Wall of Tianjin, Huangyaguan Great Wall is located.

Tianjin North Railway Station

• Chinese: 滨海西站 (Pinyin: bīn hǎi xī zhàn)

• Location: Wanrong Street, Binhai New Area, Tianjin 天津市滨海新区万荣大街

• Distance: about 14km to Binhai Railway Station (30min by car); about 10km to Tanggu Railway Station (20min by car); about 41km to Tianjin Binhai International Airport (40min by car); about 28km to Tianjin Port (40min by car); about 45km to Tianjin Railway Station (55min by car); about 63km to Tianjin West Railway Station (1h by car).

Binhai West Railway Station, it used to be called Binhai Railway Station before the real Binhai Railway Station was built. It is a high speed bullet train station, which serves multiple G trains to Beijing, Jilin, Changchun, Qinhuangdao, Harbin, Shanghai, Wuhan, etc. It was connected with Tianjin West Railway Station by numerous high speed G trains. It helps a lot with transferring passengers from Tianjin Port Area to the downtown.

• Location: No. 2543 Dalian Road, Binhai New Area, Tianjin 天津市滨海新区大连道2543号

• Distance: about 5km to Binhai Railway Station (15min by car); about 11km to Binhai West Railway Station (20min by car); about 40km to Tianjin Binhai International Airport (45min by car); about 32km to Tianjin Port (40min by car); about 50km to Tianjin Railway Station (1h 10min by car).

Tanggu Railway Station is located between Binhai Railway Station and Binhai West Railway Station. It operates both high speed inter-city C trains between Tianjin and Beijing, and normal trains to Harbin, Changchun, Qinhuangdao, Qingdao, Jinan, Chongqing, etc. There are over 20 daily high speed trains from Beijing South Railway Station to Tianjin Railway Station and Tanggu Railway Station, and finally reach Binhai Railway Station.

How to Book, Alter and Cancel a Ticket

There are many ways to book a train ticket, including booking online, booking with a travel agency, booking at the ticket offices in China’s Railway Stations, etc. For foreign travelers, you are suggested to book with travel agency so you won’t meet with the language barrier.
