Suzhou Railway Stations - Suzhou Railway Station & Suzhou North Railway Station

There are 4 main railway stations in Suzhou, which are Suzhou Railway Station, Suzhou North Railway Station, Suzhou Xinqu Railway Station, and Suzhou Yuanqu Railway Station. Among them, the former two are frequently used and connect most cities in China. All the 4 of them operate high speed trains and are accessible by metro.

Note: The 4 train stations are at least 30 minutes’ drive away from each other. So extra attention should be paid when buying your train ticket and make sure you choose the correct one.

Suzhou Railway Station is firstly built in 1906 and has been reconstructed or expanded several times till now. The railway station we see today is elegantly designed and it is one of the most beautiful stations in China. It now mainly serves both high speed trains and normal trains on Beijing-Shanghai Railway and Shanghai-Nanjing Intercity Railway. Not located very far from the city center, it can be easily reached by metro Line 2, Line 4 and multiple bus lines.

• To Suzhou downtown (Humble Administrator’s Garden, Suzhou Museum, Pingjiang Road): about 3.5 km, 15 minutes by car, 30 minutes by bus.
• To Lingering Garden: about 5 km, 15 minutes by car, 25 minutes by metro.
• To Tiger Hill: about 5 km, 15 minutes by car, 30 minutes by bus.
• To Tongli Water Town: about 28 km, 45 minutes by car, 1h40min by metro and bus.

Luggage Storage: Suzhou Railway Station provides luggage storage service and it usually charges CNY 10-30/piece a day according to the size of your luggage.

Connected Cities: Shanghai (0.5h), Nanjing (1-1.5h), Hangzhou (1.5-2.5h), Huangshan (3.5h), Wuxi (20min), Yangzhou (1h20min), Changzhou (25-50min), etc.

Tips: If you are traveling to Suzhou from cities like Shanghai and Hangzhou, which have train schedules between several train stations in Suzhou, it is most recommended to choose Suzhou Railway Station because it is the closest to the main attractions.

Address: Nantiancheng Road, Xiangcheng District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province 江苏省苏州市相城区南天城路

Suzhou North Railway Station (Suzhoubei Railway Station), built in 2011, is an important transportation hub in Suzhou. It is a special railway station for Shanghai-Nanjing Intercity Railway. All trains passing through this station are G or D series high speed trains on that railway which run northwards to Zhenjiang, Nanjing, Jinan, Tianjin, Beijing and southwards to Kunshan and Shanghai. Metro Line 2 connects Suzhou North Railway Station with Suzhou downtown.

• To Suzhou downtown (Humble Administrator’s Garden, Suzhou Museum, Pingjiang Road): about 16 km, 30 minutes by car, 1 hour by metro.
• To Lingering Garden: about 18 km, 30 minutes by car, 50 minutes by metro and bus.
• To Tiger Hill: about 15 km, 30 minutes by car, 1 hour by metro and bus.
• To Tongli Water Town: about 38 km, 50 minutes by car, 2 hours by metro and bus.

Luggage Storage: Suzhou North Railway Station does not provide official luggage storage service to the tourists. But you can find some stores nearby to put your luggage. It usually needs CNY 20 a day for a suitcase and CNY 10 for a small bag.

Chinese: 苏州园区站 (Pinyin: sū zhōu yuán qū zhàn)

Address: Zhihexi Road, Zhongxin Suzhou Industrial Park, Suzhou City 江苏省苏州市中新苏州工业园区至和西路, about 10 km, 30 minutes’ drive to Suzhou downtown.

Suzhou Yuanqu Railway Station is one of the six stations of Suzhou section of Shanghai-Nanjing Intercity High Speed Railway. In the near future, it is expected to be a transfer hub in Yangtze River Delta serving Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo High-speed Railway. It now has high speed trains to Shanghai (0.5h), Nanjing (1.5h), Hangzhou (1h45min), Changzhou (40min), Shenzhen (12.5h), Hankou (5h), Ningbo (2.5h), etc. You can get to the station by metro Line 3.

Chinese: 苏州新区站 (Pinyin: sū zhōu xīn qū zhàn)

Address: Chengji Road, Hushuguan Town, Suzhou City 江苏省苏州市浒墅关镇城际路, about 16 km, 45 minutes’ drive to Suzhou downtown.

Suzhou Xinqu Railway Station is an intermediate station on Shanghai-Nanjing Intercity High Speed Railway. It makes the whole Suzhou transportation system more complete. Compared with the other three, there are not many trains passing through here. It now operates high speed trains to Shanghai (40min), Nanjing (1h20min), Hankou (5h), and Chengdu (14h). Suzhou metro Line 3 can get you to the train station directly.

Generally, a classic Suzhou tour takes about 1~2 days. Visiting Suzhou, you can't miss elegant Suzhou gardens, like Humble Administrator's Garden, Lingering Garden, Master of the Nets Garden, etc. You can choose one or two of them for a great garden delight. Other must-be-visited sights in Suzhou City include Suzhou No.1 Silk Factory from which you can watch the process of silk making from silkworms to elegant products, Tiger Hill which is known as the first sight in Suzhou, Suzhou Museum which is designed by I.
