Huangshan Train Stations - Layout, Transfer, Trains & Tips

There are two railway stations used for passengers in Huangshan, including Huangshan Railway Station (黄山站) and Huangshan North Railway Station (Huangshanbei Railway Station, 黄山北站). Huangshan North Railway Station was newly-operated in 2015 and it operates high speed trains only. It is the joint and vital node of Beijing-Fuzhou High Speed Rail and Hangzhou-Huangshan High Speed Rail. Huangshan Railway Station is only available for a few normal trains.

Huangshan North Railway Station is located in No.2 Yingkesong Avenue North, Tunxi District, Huangshan (黄山市屯溪区迎客松大道北2号), about 16km to Huangshan downtown, about 15km to Huangshan Tunxi Airport and about 60km to Yellow Mountain. Huangshan North Railway station has 2 floors on ground and 1 floor underground. On its east side of the first floor is Tickets Offices, where you can book, collect, alter and cancel your train tickets. Please note that do not waste time queueing up to collect your tickets from the automatic ticket machines which are only available for Chinese ID card holders. After you collect your tickets, you can pass the Security Check in the first floor with your passport and valid ticket and then enter the train station. Inside the station, you can see an Electronical Screen Board firstly which tells train information – train number, departure time, checking gate, checking time, etc. According to the information, you can find your Ticket-checking Gate on the first or the second floor. There are Waiting Halls on both floors on the ground and you can take a seat near your Ticket-checking Gate. Each Waiting Hall is equipped with necessary facilities, like Hot Water Dispenser, Power Socket, Washroom, etc. The Dining Area is settled on the interlayer floor above the second floor, available restaurants including Mcdonald’s, KFC, Noodles Houses, etc. The Platform for embarking and disembarking is on the first floor underground.

The distance between Huangshan North Railway Station and Tunxi Ancient Street is about 16km (10 miles) and driving takes about 35 minutes. There is a public bus No.21 available to take you from Huangshan North Railway Station to Yuzhong Huayuan Stop (昱中花园站) (near Tunxi Old Street) directly during 06:10 ~ 22:25 and vice versa. There are 15 midway stops and the whole trip takes about 1hour and 10 minutes usually. It is also easy to call taxi which takes about half an hour and cost about 80RMB. Read more>

Huangshan North Railway Station to Yellow Mountain

There are three entrances to Yungu Temple (云谷寺), Mercy Light Pavilion (慈光阁), Xiaolingjiao (小岭脚) and Songguan (松谷庵). Most travelers choose Yungu Temple and Mercy Light Pavilion.

Huangshan North – Yungu Temple and Mercy Light Pavilion: There are 2 buses from Huangshan North Railway Station to Yungu Temple and another 2 buses to Mercy Light Pavilion every day. Besides, all other buses can only reach Tangkou Town (汤口) – the town at the foot of the mountain. There are 9 daily tourist buses running from Huangshan Tourism Passenger Transport Hub to the transfer centers in Tangkou. The trip takes about 1 hour. From the transfer center in Tangkou, you have to take an electric park bus to Yungu Temple (云谷寺) or Ciguang Pavilion (慈光阁) where you can take a cable car or begin your hiking to the mountain. From 07:30 to 17:30, there are frequent buses from Tangkou to Huangshan North Railway Station. The buses depart whenever it’s full.

Huangshan North – Xiaolingjiao (小岭脚): Huangshan Tourism Passenger Transport Hub also operates one daily bus to the West Gate of Yellow Mountain Scenic Area. The tourist bus will drive you (about 2 hours) to Xiaolingjiao, and then you need to take an electric park bus to Diaoqiaoan (钓桥庵). If you want to travel Yellow Mountain from the West Gate, you need to hike at least 4 ~ 5 hours from Diaoqiaoan to Paiyunxi (排云溪) where you can take the monorail cable train to the nearest hotel on the mountain.

Huangshan North – Songguan (松谷庵): There is another daily bus (about 1.5 hours) to Songguan from Hunagshan North Raiwlay Station as Well. After getting to Songguan, you can take an electric park bus to the cable car station.

Huangshan North Railway Station to Hongcun and Xidi

Hongcun is another top attraction only second to Yellow Mountain in Huangshan. Many travelers will turn to Hongcun Village directly after they reach Huangshan by high speed train. Hongcun is about 55km (34 miles) away from Huangshan North Railway Station. The driving journey takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes ordinarily. During the driving trip from Huangshan North Railway Station to Hongcun Village, you will have a good view of the surrounding scenery, especially the traditional Huizhou-style houses with white walls and gray tiles. If you travel in November, you can enjoy some beautiful chrysanthemum grown and colorful hue of the leaves. There are regular buses running from Huangshan North Railway Station to Hongcun Village and vice versa as well. If you take a bus, it may takes about 2 hours becuase all the buses will take a stop at Xidi and Qiyun Mountain.

Huangshan North Railway Station to Other Attractions

Apart from Yellow Mountain and Hongcun Village, many other popular attractions can be reached by tourist bus from Huangshan Tourism Passenger Transport Hub. If you would like a relaxing cruise along Xian River, you can get to Shendu (深渡). The bus to Shendu from Huangshan North Railway Station also takes a stop at Qiankou Village (潜口), Tangmo Village (唐模) and Tangyue (棠樾). If you want to visit a beautiful but less crowded village, Chengkan Village (呈坎) is a recommended. If you want to see the great ancient water conservancy project, Yuliang Dam (渔梁坝) awaits.

After Huangshan North Railway Station was operated in 2015, it becomes the busiest transportation junction in Huangshan. At present, it operates over 50 high speed bullet trains every day. Many tourists travel to Huangshan by high speed trains from several cities, like Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Xian, Xiamen, Hefei, Fuzhou, Jinan, Tianjin, etc. Among these cities, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Beijing are the best gateway cities to Huangshan.
