Get to Great Wall from Beijing South by Tourist Bus
For independent travelers who want to use public transportation, you need to make transfer in Beijing City. There are tourist buses departing from Dongzhimen Wai Bus Station (东直门外站) to Mutianyu Great Wall, Jinshanling Great Wall and Simatai Great Wall. Tourist buses normally depart in the morning, so you are able to catch one only if you arrive at Beijing South Railway Station in the early morning. Dongzhimen Wai Bus Station is about 15km (about 1 hour's driving) away from South Railway Station and you can transfer between them by bus which cost about 1.5 hours.
